666th_birdy Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Just a shame it has never been modelled anywhere. Yes, I have always been a fan of the alarm's linger mode (where it shoots straight up, deploys a parachute and then waits for someone brave enough to turn on their radar). Wasn't that modeled in EF2000/Tactcom? ...Aaahh, sweet memories....... DELL Inspiron 1564 / Intel Core i3 M330 @ 2.13GHz (4GB)___ATI Radeon HD4330(512Mb)___Windows7 Home Premium 64bit
DayGlow Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Tornado was probably the first. Ah, the joys of gaming on my old 486. "It takes a big man to admit he is wrong...I'm not a big man" Chevy Chase, Fletch Lives 5800X3D - 64gb ram - RTX3080 - Windows 11
dynamocl Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I have not seen it modelled anywhere to be honest. But I did miss the boat with regards to the "Tornado" sim. I played a demo on my old Amiga 500+, very dodgey graphics, ran about about 2 fps. Couldnt take off with the plane shaking to pieces (this was before flight in general interested me). Back in real life though, I do know that us Brits did have trouble in the past conflicts with the direct launch of the ALARM. In loiter mode it works as it says on the box, but they had trouble releasing them like the HARM (as is modelled with the SEAD missiles in lockon and Falcon). I beleive this problem with direct launch has since been sorted. Just a shame only a very small amount of airforces use them - you have to wonder why if it is the case of one alarm doing the job the 100 or so others couldnt do (if you beleive that). It must be down to cost and pricing - complexity must come at a premium.
tomcat1974 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Russian/WP used Kh28, Kh58, Kh25MP on Mig 25BM, Su22M3U I think, and Su24MP , and of course there where ARM heads for Kh22
Force_Feedback Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Any rumors/facts on how effective Soviet made ARMs were/are? (not the latest models, missiles 20 years and older) Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
