ASP pipper not showing up correctly with mixed loadouts

Just tried to use a mix of FAB-100s (2 4x racks) and S-24. I couldn't get the rocket ripper at all. Works flawlessly without those bombs.

Not sure if it is a bug, but the middle switch on the HUD needs to be switched between BOMB and MISSILE to get it to work.

 

I tried carrying bombs and rockets, and could not drop the bombs without moving that switch, but I'd expect that the missile (Kh-66?) should be dropped without because it has a distinct switch position on the armament selector.

Just tested this and I confirm that this seems to be a bug.

 

If S-24 are loaded on the outer pylons and bombs on the inner, the S-24 pipper is not displayed. In every other case (including S-24 on inner and bombs on outer pylons) it works as documented.

 

Test details:

 

Setup for bombs:

AIR/GROUND: GROUND

IR/NEUT/SARH: doesn't matter (set it to NEUT anyways)

GUN/LNC: LNC

S/B: B

AUTO/MAN: AUTO

MSL/GYRO: doesn't matter (left it at MSL)

 

Setup for S-24:

GROUND, (NEUT), LNC, S, AUTO, (MSL)

 

a) Loadout: S24, S24, S24, S24

Weapon selector = S-24 (1,2): pipper ok, launch ok

S-24 (3,4): pipper ok, launch ok

 

b) Loadout: S24, FAB, FAB, S24

B (1,2) or B(1-4): pipper ok, drop ok

B (3,4): no pipper, no drop - as expected

S-24 (1,2): no pipper, no launch - as expected

S-24 (3,4): no pipper, lauch ok

 

c) Loadout: FAB, S24, S24, FAB

B (1,2): no pipper, no drop - as expected

B (3,4): pipper ok, drop ok

B (1-4): pipper ok, drop ok

S-24 (1,2): pipper ok, launch ok

S-24 (3,4): no pipper, no launch - as expected

 

d) Loadout: FAB, FAB, FAB, FAB

B (1,2), B (3,4) and B (1-4): pipper ok, drop ok

S-24 (1,2) and S-24 (3,4): no pipper, no launch - as expected

The manual, at least, states that BOMB mode is for bombs only, and MISSILE mode is for everything else.

 

I know - but that is surely a HUD targeting mode only and should not affect the weapons system??

 

I'm saying that switch appears to affect the weapons system directly, which I'm not sure it should because the bombs and Kh-66 have distinct positions on the armament selector.

I've just had a problem like this. I had KH-66 on the inner pylons and S24 on outer. The pipper wouldn't show up and I also noticed some weird texture flickering on the intercept angle knob.

 

Same setup with same error here. The pipper in the ASP seems to disappear or sometimes flicker also and move erratically up and down. Shooting the S24 works though. If you put the gunsight in Manual mode the pipper shows up correctly but then you have to manually dial in the angle.

Confirm, I just found out this bug myself.

Check my track.

KH66 in the inner pylon, S-24 is at 3-4 pylon. After using KH66 I can't get pipper showing correctly for S-24.

I've seen this bug often as well. Just flew - tried - to fly a mission with PTAB's on the outer pilons and UPK's on the inner, and was unable to get the screen or pipper to show up.
