Hey guys,

I've recently been dabbling with some of the air superiority fighters in FC3 and had some questions about button functionality. hoping you all can help.

F-15:

- Base / Distance axis ... i figured it was for setting wingspans of aerial targets, but can't figure it out

- Radar Horizontal axis ... looks like only Russian aircraft can do this

-Scan Zone Left and Right Sensors, same as Radar Horizontal

Mig-29 and SU-27

- Radar Range axis ... isn't that the same as zooming the display? i'm confused, because there is an MFD range axis

- Electro-optical system sensor ... that turns on the Skhval on for the SU-25T, what does it do here?

Thanks guys, really hoping some of this can be cleared up

I'm not sure on the commands regarding radar functionality, so I won't answer these. The EOS is a high powered IR sensor that lets you passively detect aircraft. When you activate it in BVR mode, you will get a HUD display similar to the radar functionality. You won't have IFF functions though! It works on hughe distanced if the enemy is afterburning, ofc works best when facing 6 o'clock of the bogey.

So it basically gives you the capability of sneaking up to someone and firing IR-seeking missiles without him knowing until he is hit.

Radar horizontal axis should be the LRS scan width. 60* is the default but, if you know what patch of sky your likely target is buried in, switching to 30* scan might help you to pick him up a bit more quickly because you are scanning less of the sky.

Radar Range axis should be referring to the expected target range. IF you have an idea of how far away the target is, when you turn on your radar, it'll help the radar to be pointing where it should be for a quicker "pick up". This is different from zooming the display. The display just, well, displays what the radar is "seeing".

Scan zone left/right shifts the scan zone left or right to cover those sections of the sky to the left or right.

Hope that helps.
