Please read page 181 to 182 of the manual and tell me it's the manual that is wrong and not just me not getting it. This Sim is hard enough to learn without the manual totally confusing the hell out of you. I have included some pics to show you the problem I'm having.

So I turn the dial to Waypoint and I get the display on the CDU shown in the first Pic I uploaded. This is the correct display, but its the next part of the manual that appears to be wrong. It then says in the manual (page182) that if you select line 5 it allows to to go to the Waypoint page P1/2 and displays the following information I have highlighted below. The problem been is I don't see any of the information below. When I press line 5 (Waypoint) which it tells you to do in the manual, it just takes me to a totally different page which is shown in the second Pic I have uploaded.

Time to Go to Steerpoint, L8. manual

Magnetic Heading/Distance to Steerpoint, L9.

ANCHOR Page (ANCHOR PT) Branch Line Select Key, R7.

Time to Go to Anchor Point, R8

Magnetic Heading/Distance to Anchor Point, R9.

Anchor Point to (TO)/from (FR) Rotary Line Select Key, R9.

I am not sure how you read these pages ... what you listed at the end of your posting are information that are all displayed on the CDU page in your first screenshot. It is just the remainder of the list in the manual for that CDU page.

But when you select L5, you are jumping to a different CDU page that is described later in the manual: "WP / STEERPOINT Sub - Page" (p. 282, bottom). That is what you see in your screenshot 2.

@Flagrum - Yes you are right it's just a continuation of that page. I mistook it to mean press L5 to see the page I was already on LOL. Red faced at this very minute LOL.

No shame! You're one of the 28.14% that will actually read the manual all the way through. In a few days you'll know more than 71.86% of users.. some of which have been flying the Warthog for years but are still lacking information. Mark my words, if you complete the entire manual you'll be answering questions for people with a join date of 2008. :)

POLL:

I read the manual all the way through bar2-l.gifbar2.gifbar2-r.gifclear.gif 132 28.14%

I read what I had to.. I plan to read the rest one day bar3-l.gifbar3.gifbar3-r.gifclear.gif 173 36.89%

I read what I had to.. the rest is a reference only if I get lost bar4-l.gifbar4.gifbar4-r.gifclear.gif 132 28.14%

Hate manuals. I'll learn as I go. bar5-l.gifbar5.gifbar5-r.gifclear.gif 32 6.82%

Well I have sort of read the manual only a bit back to front. I want to learn the emergency procedures and then want to tackle the CDU. The only problem I have with the CDU is I'm not sure what I really need to learn and what is just for show. At the moment I can use the CDU for Offset and creating a waypoint, I can also use divert and a couple of other things.

Can you suggest what else I learn about the CDU?

There's nothing that's just for show. There are no shortcuts to learning the bird. The manual is written in a top down fashion so that one concept clarifies the next. I can tell you with certainty that partially reading the manual will make you only a partial pilot. Some people are ok with that.. not me. With full knowledge of the bird, my sorties contain no hesitation.. only devastation.

I've been revisiting the Blackshark lately.. and working in the editor a bit. After I'm done revisiting my 2nd favorite girl, I'll venture back to my first love, Ms. Warthog. I haven't been online.. but I'm sure I will shortly. I just ordered the Oculus DK2.. I suspect Data Intelligence will take a backseat to Warthog once I get it setup.

I have the Devkit 2 and while it really feels like you are in a jet unfortunately the HUD isn't clear enough to make out. I couldn't believe how real it feels though the A10C is massive inside the Rift.

Good to see you too Snoopy! I hope you and your family are well. I've always been reading the boards but work has had me too busy to be really active. You know me though.. I can never pass up a good RTFM.:book:
