derbarbarian Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Hey guy's, I've been using a Force Feedback 2 for ages, the motors inside the stick finally stopped working, so I'm hunting for a new one, I would love to get the HOTAS Warthog, unfortunately my budget is about $100.. Any recommendations would be most appreciated.
cichlidfan Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 After all that time with FFB, I have a suspicion that not having FFB is going to bother you a lot, no matter what stick you get. derbarbarian Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 Yeah, I fear that as well.. Started with the Original Force feedback in the mid 90's, moved onto the force feedback 2 & Force Feedback Wheel.. I'm sure it'll just take a bit of time to get used to a new stick, I've been playing Mig 21 & 190 without plugging the power into the stick, so it's literally like using a wet noodle. The feedback itself isn't a big deal, it's just a matter of having a firm/stiff stick not something that wobbles all over the place.
llama Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 For $100ish, I would say an x52 or maybe try to find a used x55 Asrock z68 Extreme4Gen3 Intel i5-2500K 8GB ram EVGA GTX 770 4GB Creative Recon3d Fatality Champion HDD's 320 GB Maxtor 7200RPM (OS and misc system files) 1 TB Hitachi 7200 RPM (games and music, storage) 64 GB Sandisk u100 SSD (Star Wars and DCS world 1.2.7) Trackir 4 Saitek X65F:joystick: Saitek X52 (Use flightstick for helo and WWII Sims, but X65 throttle) CH Pro pedals Thrustmaster MFD's Logitech X5500 Speakers Sennheiser PC360 Headphones Win 7 Home Premium (64 Bit)
agrasyuk Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Get another ffb2 and a used saitec x kit - its throttle module can be used without the joystick part. Can be had well within 100$ budget Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
One1way Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Are you absolutely sure that the motor is dead? same thing happened with mine but it was a cable that had come loose from the ir
derbarbarian Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 I'm not 100% sure the motor is dead, it was more of an assumption, when I plug the power cable into the stick it starts making a very loud squealing sound when I move it across the axis's the sound intensifies greatly. So I assumed it was a motor issue. Albeit I found it a bit strange because one day it was working absolutely fine, the next it was fubar.
One1way Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Ooo dont sound very good :/ Agrasyuk ide is a good one Buy a new FFB and a x52 throttle and you up and flying again :) And you will still have some money left
