dynamocl Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I beleive nscode was making the point that LCDs were not around, and it's likely to be CRT.
504Goon Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Are you talking about the little screen i've circled in the pic? Isn't it the EKRAN (test and warning system)? 504th CO http://www.vvs504.co.uk

Not quiet, it's a monochrome CRT. As for the instrument below it- yes, it's the indicator of the test&warning system Ekran(means Screen in english). IMO, this is not a serial machine, I beleive it's a prototype. As for the initial question- the "black box" device on the left of the HUD is, like someone said, is one of the head tracking sensors of the HMTD. The other is on the right side of the HUD and it works like TrackIR indeed :D "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=

Yes, it seem's that groove thought of ekran, but I thought about the thing that's where SPO is. On that picture it's right of the trim on the stick. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
