efs2 Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 How do I repair damage to my A-10 (or any plane)? I know how to refuel and re-arm, but I'm usually pretty shot up when I return to base, so I also need some duct tape or band-aids at least. I read somewhere that the combination of Left Windows + End keys would do it, but that hasn't worked for me. That seems to fix leaks but not visible damage or flight-control problems. Is there also a time element, or what? Thanks. Ed
efs2 Posted April 1, 2006 Author Posted April 1, 2006 I found a few threads on this at the Ubi forum. One observed the same result with the Left Windows + End keys - leaks repaired, but not other damage. So I deduce that is the way it is supposed to work. I would try to jump to a wingman's plane, but any that are left are usually all shot up also. So that leaves ejection/recovery as the only way to get back into action with all systems functioning - correct? Ed
Weta43 Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Look at your key bindings for the key combinations (Shift + Enter on mine). I usually consider I'm done if I'm too damaged to go back up & if I want to repair I park up & CTRL E,E,E 'cause I'm impatient & my success has been patchy with getting a new plane ( get the plane, can't always get a start.), so I was going to let someone else who uses the feature answer, but no-one seems to be going to so - from memory you have to park up, turn off & there is a delay as well. Cheers.
159_Archer Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Don't know if there is a key command for repair of planes. But I do know that if you land at an airfield and park up, after about 4-5 mins the aircraft will be repaired (be patient  -it will repair:) ). Had an interesting one when I landed with an engine on fire once; got it stopped on the runway, switched off the engines, and with a few seconds I heard an extinguisher sound - and the fire was out! Lock-on does seem to have a few things that pop-up to surprise you.... I see Weta beat my to it... dynamocl Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 On multiplayer, you need to engine off, sit and wait, dont touch anything. Single player, there maybe a key combination for it.
efs2 Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 How do I know when the damage is repaired? Does the visible damage disappear? And that leads to the next topic of discussion - how to get back in the air. I don't have a Right Windows key, so I restart the engines by pressing Shift/Home and Alt/Home, correct? Then what? Wait until the little needles get to a certain point and level off before advancing the throttles? Thanks for the info. Ed
emenance Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 well you wont have an alarm :) so then yes you can do those things and take off. If you look at the documetation in the game there are some nice print out for the controls and stuff too. efs2 Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 You guys pay attention to warning lights and alarms? Not me. I just figure Shift/N is a normal part of combat flying. In fact, unless both engines are on fire, or the weapons control system dies, I just keep attacking. Kill 'em all! Ed

Ed Well i have a little trick, when im back on Tarmac/ Taxiway and the engines are turned off i just keep the canopy closed ... after 3 min. suddently the canopy is open and those invisible gnomes have repaired my plane :D
dynamocl Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Cowfreak makes a good point, not only do you get repaired, but the super efficient engineers also reset all systems (most systems and switches) on your plane, without you even knowing. So as you start the mission with canopy open, when you are repaired, the canopy will also open. Same with lights etc. This happens in most cases. If you were missing a wing, it will suddenly reappear - its things like that, that point out the repair job is done.
Dunks Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 What are your options if you rip off your gear when you land and are stuck on the side of the runway? I sat there for a few minuites with engines off, but nothing happened, will repair not work while on the runway? Ejecting just leaves wreakage on the runway

S77th-GOYA Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 You can repair on the runway. But loss of landing gear is not repairable, except maybe for the Frogs. LEaving your canopy closed is the best way to tell if you are repaired, especially if you have no visible signs in the cockpit that you are damaged. If you're bellied in, try to get off the runway before ejecting. 1
Force_Feedback Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 The AFM planes (su-25/25T) are able to 'repair' even on the grass, but only near the runway/airbase. If you make a gear-up landing with a non-AFM plane, you have to end up on either a taxiway or the runway itself, otherwise you can wait for a few days, until lomac crashes. Xealot Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Does anyone know when this repair feature was implemented? did they put it in with FC or was it already there back in 1.02 ?
