Nybble Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Hi all, Me and a friend were comparing the 109 with the Dora last night, and the results surprised me especially in regards to engine performance and management. One test we were doing was comparing speed, with the Dora easily able to speed off without the 109 able to pursue. With the Dora you could open the throttle to max, put on MW50 and accelerate to close to 700kp/h flying level. The 109 on the other-hand barely could get past 500kp/h Pushing the throttle even above 50% (1.35 ATA / 25 RPM) would result in the engine seizing almost immediately, where as the Dora could just fly on max prop for what seemed like an infinite amount of time. (Never blew an engine during the tests) Note that this was done at <= 2000ft Is this realistic, a bug or am I just plain doing something wrong? Kind regards, Nybble DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
fastfreddie Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Dora should reach about 615 kph at ground level which is indeed much faster than the Mustang and 109 at this alt. I don't think I've ever hit 700 kph at 2000ft in level flight before in it but its only advantages over the other 2 are speed at some of the lower alts and its dive speed (acceleration). I think I had the 109 above 550kph at the altitudes your describing and make sure you have MW50 on when attempting this.

I can fly k4 with full throttle, same with 190 and p51, just keep temp, and bird will fly:P ----edit Just tested, in straight line 594km/h with boost. So full throttle but what about the RPM setting / prop pitch ? DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
Flying-Kane Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Will test soon. So full throttle but what about the RPM setting / prop pitch ? Full throttle and automatic prop pitch. There's no reason to fly with manual prop pitch. To get the most out of your engine: Automatic Prop pitch. MW50 on. Throttle to max. Nybble Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 How do you enable auto prop pitch, is it on by default in a cold start? If so, if you flick the manual buttons, how do you go back to auto? DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
DB 605 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 How do you enable auto prop pitch, is it on by default in a cold start? If so, if you flick the manual buttons, how do you go back to auto? No, it is in manual by default in a cold start mission. Look at control setting and assign buttons to flick it to auto or manual. Alladyn Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) Just tested 190 and p51 ~600km/h similar to 109 // low alt Seems like p51 lose wings on 8G and 109 on 7.4G :music_whistling: Edited December 6, 2014 by Alladyn [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
