  2. Hey mate, I made the same thread, didn't see yours. If I figure something out I will let you know!
  3. Hi all, simple question. I'm trying to build a mission for WWII dogfighting, where the aircraft start in the air, and have a limited combat zone. To enforce this I am using a trigger to explode any aircraft that leaves the zone. However to prevent players from unknowingly straying out of the zone, I want to mark it by having AI aircraft fly around the edge of the zone with smoke pods enabled. I've also tried getting aircraft to fly around leaving contrails, however I've had no success at any altitude. Is there a way to achieve that, or is there a better way to create a dogfighting arena as I have described? Open to any suggestions, or similar missions that allready exist. Thanks!
  4. How do you enable auto prop pitch, is it on by default in a cold start? If so, if you flick the manual buttons, how do you go back to auto?
  5. Will test soon. So full throttle but what about the RPM setting / prop pitch ?
  6. Hi all, Me and a friend were comparing the 109 with the Dora last night, and the results surprised me especially in regards to engine performance and management. One test we were doing was comparing speed, with the Dora easily able to speed off without the 109 able to pursue. With the Dora you could open the throttle to max, put on MW50 and accelerate to close to 700kp/h flying level. The 109 on the other-hand barely could get past 500kp/h Pushing the throttle even above 50% (1.35 ATA / 25 RPM) would result in the engine seizing almost immediately, where as the Dora could just fly on max prop for what seemed like an infinite amount of time. (Never blew an engine during the tests) Note that this was done at <= 2000ft Is this realistic, a bug or am I just plain doing something wrong? Kind regards, Nybble
  7. Haha good to see you got the video uploaded :) If anyone here is from Aus and is keen to participate in similar antics to the above send me or SgtWorm a PM. (We also fly seriously, but a launch night deserves special attention!)
  8. He doesn't want to program the stick at all. Like myself he feels he should be able to plug in and start binding keys without installing any additional software. Both the joysticks offer more then enough keys and axis, and using software to create modifiers seems cumbersome and unnecessary, for me at least
  9. Cheers for the replies! I agree with the comment on TARGET, to be honest I uninstalled it an never looked back. You don't need it installed at all to get proper functionality of the stick. Anyone else got any thoughts? I don't think he's fully convinced yet....
  10. Hi all, As a proud owner of the Thustmaster Warthog, I come to you with a simple question. A friend of mine owns the X-52 (Standard, Non-Pro) and has been considering upgrading to the Warthog for some time now, due to the numerous issues with the Saitek. (Poor construction, connection issues between stick and throttle, bad software, to name a few) With three strong modules getting closer each day (Dora, Sabre, Fishbed) it's looking like we are going to invest some serious time into DCS over the coming months, and it would make sense to upgrade before they arrive so he's not relearning after changing setup. I suggested he picks up the Warthog soon so he can fully do the new aircraft justice, and complete the setup. He already has rudder pedals and a trackIR 5 as well. So I was just after some opinions from those who have owned either (or both) the X-52 and Thrustmaster, for some personal feedback on the devices, and what you would do in the given situation. That's all, looking forward to your responses! Kind regards, Nybble
  11. If you have a friend to play with, create a mission with two planes that air-start with gun ammo. I've done that a fair bit which get's your skills up quickly. If not create the same with AI but don't give them ammo and they'll try and evade
  12. Hi all, Here's a video I put together for myself and my mates that I fly with, just as something to look back on and laugh about. Figured I may as well share it :) <- Can't embed for some reason Enjoy!
  13. That's good to hear, I'm upgrading from a GTX480 I bought almost 5 years ago! Really looking forward to seeing what I can do on the new card :D
  14. Slightly off topic, how does the new card go with DCS? I just bought one should arrive in a few days and am hoping it pulls decent frames.
  15. Just wondering if there is a specific thread for posting DCS videos, I'm sure I have seen one but I can't seem to find one anywhere. Can somone point me in the right direction?
  16. That may have been the case, I did enable it temporarily because I thought it meant the controls indicators (Is there a way to make them off by default in the Mi-8??) and now it's off again and is behaving well.
  17. I had a play around and enabled central position trimmer mode. I have this off for the KA-50 and the UH-1H but for the Mi-8 it has fixed the problem. Also I have turned the control helper on and off a few times, without noticing any change. What does that do exactly?
  18. I did some further testing, and have encountered something even stranger. While sitting on the runway, my controls indicator shows the stick being pulled AFT-RIGHT without me giving any input, which turns me to the right a bit. If I try and trim it out I have to push the stick full forward and left, and that only gets it close to neutral. If I hit reset trimmer it resets briefly then goes back to the aft-right position. Is this normal behavior?
  19. Here's the track as promised. It's just me flying around Batumi airbase. Initially it starts with the AP on, and it takes me a moment to get her steady. On the first turn I get a bit of bobbing. When I fly back towards the ocean I disengage the AP and can control her much better, however no matter what I do I cannot get the trim to work, even though I can hear the sound of the trimmer. Then I try and land, and fail horribly. If someone could watch though this (about 5 mins long) and give me some advice that would help alot! mi8-tests.trk
  20. In special have all of the boxes unticked, so there should be no rudder trim. As for the nose bobbing, that only occurs with the pitch / roll autopilot enabled. Once I come out of a turn and return the nose to level with the horizon, I can see that the autopilot is trying to get the nose level, but it overcompenstates and pushes it too far, then overcompensates again trying to bring it back. Control input does not help, and trimming has no effect
  21. Thanks for the quick replies! I understand for the mostpart how the autopilot works, and how it turns off yaw assistance when you give some input. I like this feature and have no issues with it. My biggest problem is, as mentioned, even with the AP off, my trim seems to be changed and never holds the position I give it. I had the idea that I may be doing something wrong in the start sequence, so I will fly a hot start flight, and if I have issues I will provide a track file.
  22. Hi there! I've put a few hours into flying the Mi-8 now, and have a couple of issues with the general handling. I understand it's an incomplete product, but I want to find out if it's something I am doing wrong or just a game issue. Basically while in flight, I will have the pitch / roll and heading autopilot settings on. This gives smooth flight when traveling in a straight line, however after turning I notice the nose bobs up and down quite a bit regardless of any input I give it, and takes a while to settle down. With the autopilot settings off, I can handle this much better, however when trying to trim it, I notice with the controls indicator open, that my trim does not really save and seems to have little effect. Sometimes it does work like it does in the huey, but once trimmed I notice the chopper seems to override my trim and set its own, and this is with all autopilot settings off. So just some help, trips, tricks or an explanation would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  23. I would decide on one based on the helo itself, not how many missions are included, as there is a heap of downloadable missions / campaigns anyway. I would take the Huey if you are after a zippy little chopper that's highly maneuverable but lacks top speed, and the Mi-8 if you want a heavier one that can reach higher speeds.
  24. I was hoping you would show up here Yo-Yo That's cleared it up for me at least, it was the one function I didn't fully understand. Thanks for that!
