Hi all.

I've noticed that DCS runs pretty slower when it displays ground. When it displays mainly sky the FPS greatly increase.

I remember on IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 it was possible to modify almost every aspect of the simulator with more range of options than those of the graphic settings menu with the config.ini file.

It is possible to lower the terrain settings in DCS World that way?

Greetings :smilewink:

I think AtaliaA1 means Notepad ++, unless you're planning on rewriting DCS! :)

The problem isn't the ground textures as much, it's the objects populated on them (trees, buildings, railway carriages, cranes, etc. There have been many, many threads discussing it and how to boost performance, but basically you need to reduce the included options to the currenct lowest values and wait for DCS World 2.

If you really have that low a spec'd computer that you need to reduce them further, check the low.lua file in the config folder and reduce the distances that the objects within it are drawn, then set that as your visibility setting in DCS

I don't think it's because the objects amount. I set them at minimum so most of the trees and buildings are not drawn. However I experience low FPS while ground is displayed (without objects).

Just a quick test. You can check the graphic parameters by enlarging this full-res screenshots.

FPS: 29

Not a little difference I guess...
