Well title says it all. What roles can UH-1H play in DCS context?

Also, what is the doctrine to use when flying her?

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Troop, cargo transport and pilot rescue are the first that come to mind. Maybe light attack roles, but the engine is better at simulating larger scale attack roles in my mind.

Im not an expert on this at all by the way. Just making some suggestions.

Thanks for you input. What else guys?

Dustoff (CASEVAC or even MEDEVAC)

Myself, personally, just jump in an egg-beater and go joyridin'!

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

The main problem I have is rudder. I have CH pro rudder but the rudder is so sensitive and my desk setup makes my back hurt in long flights. They ahould've added rudder compensator, Bell that is... Like in ka-50.

Considering either volair (heavier shipping, useless attachments) or playseat. No I cant make it from used car seats ( no necessary material available and dont want to waste time).. CH products here, need to dissect and clean my pro rudder.

Make the pedals as soft as possible, that will help. You may also want to adjust your chair and desk setup.

I took the spring out of my Saitek pedals, works amazing and allows me to "trim" my rudder. :joystick:

Think I saw a .pdf or similar download to CH Hangar how to disassemble the Pro Pedals. Also Google search for ideas.

Yes, one of these days I need to clean out the inside of mine.

Tactical battlefield commander

A couple more words on this.

Flying as TacCom is awesome, and I absolutely recommend trying it if you have CA. Your role is to fly around & survey the battlefield, and direct your troops according to the situation at hand. Plonk in a superior amount of enemy troops and see if you can save your bacon...

Great, great fun I'm telling you! Please give it a go if you haven't yet

Yep :D

Check out the attachment. Nothing fancy by any means - just a quick & dirty free-for-all SP thingy based on an autogenerated mission, but you still have to direct your troops wisely or you'll lose the skirmish. The Apaches do kill many of the MBTs and APCs even if you don't send in any ground units, but the rest will come through if you do nothing!

I just made this thing in like 15 minutes yesterday and haven't really tested it in any way, but AFAIK it should work regardless because there're no triggers or anything of that nature complicating matters. Have fun!

EDIT: I decided to remove the mission, because I'm going to release a more advanced version later. You'll fly an armed Ka-50 instead of a Huey & will have a JTAC supporting you too etcetera. Will release it in the Ka-50 missions thread when ready. S!
