JST Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) This is a basic .PSD template I made, fitting for detailed liveries and paint-and-go type of work. Everything (I've remade) is properly organized and marked in their own layers. Only the full surfaces have been made into a template, bombracks, external tank fits and droptanks aren't included, but let me know if you want to see these. Many of these are also handled separately, but can be found as .DDS files at DCSWorld/CoreMods/WWII units/Textures/Bf-109K-4.zip Official template is also out, so import anything you might need over, or just use that one. "Airframe" changes or new features will be updated if necessary. 17.02.2016 New version changes and fixes: - Fixed and improved weathering - Improved Normal/Specular maps - Circular cap above foothold only disabled, not removed - Added layers for plain aluminum bottom wing panels and exposed rivets to accommodate later K-4's - Improved and added some national/technical markings Some features: - Includes templates for main texture, normal and specular maps - Everything is redrawn over the original template in detailed layers - Completely redone weathering - Completely redone normal and specular maps - Completely redone Technical and national markings - Implemented wireframe and shadowing layers and small details folder from official template Changes and fixes to the original texture to make a more realistic K-4: - Mid-fuselage filler cap falsely marked MW50 removed from right side of the fuselage - Fuel, oil and MW50 filler caps size and shape corrected - Oxygen filler cap removed from right side of the fuselage - Handle and foothold removed from right side of the fuselage - Removed rivets from the horizontal stabilizer - Caps near the wing root moved from right wing to left wing - Handle on the left side of the fuselage moved closer to the canopy - Circular cap above foothold disabled, but can be enabled if needed (Present in some K-4's, check your reference) - Radio/First aid hatch moved slighty higher - Lower engine cowling latches removed from the right side - Added third latches to both sides of the top engine cowling Some description.lua info: Open in notepad and edit for: Remember: false for custom files/files inside the skinfolder, true for default gamefiles. "empty" always true. Swastika enabled in custom files Third group, last line: {"Bf-109K-4_KIL_CROSS", DECAL ,"bf-109k-4_cross",false}; - bf-109k-4_cross is the default filename, you can assign it as you wish, as long as it matches the actual filename inside the skinfolder. - Replace false with true to use default gamefiles No swastika Third group, last line: {"Bf-109K-4_KIL_CROSS", DECAL ,"empty",true}; - Replacing true with false will result in a "missing texture" Game-assigned unit numbers First and second groups, last lines: {"Bf-109K-4_BORT_NUMBER_0", DECAL ,"Bf-109K-4_bort_number",true}; - Replace Bf-109K-4_bort_number with empty to disable - Again, false for custom files/skinfolder files Report any mistakes or possible feature requests you'd want to see. NeilWillis Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Great! stupid question. Is it possible to alter the default dcs skins? Yes, we just have to wait for someone to release it. Unfortunately I have no expertise in the area of skinning. So my thanks definitely go to anyone who contributes to new skins etc.
arthuro12 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 This template is very good JST, easy workflow by the looks of it! Good job on the arrangement of layers especially. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

JST Posted December 12, 2014 Author Posted December 12, 2014 Thanks. Btw, anything you might miss can of course be brought over from to official template, just "airframe" changes or some new features will be updated when necessary. arthuro12 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 First of all, I like this template a lill more than the official one. So once again, nice job! JST, do you know how I can fix this: It doesn't seem like lighting, or it might be a bug. I don't know. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JST Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) Thanks, I do my best to fix mistakes and errors of the official texture. I think you just missed the layer that colours the outer line and inside the connecting piece, which is handled here: Layer is found on the horizontal stabilizers folder. x39crazy Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Normal map for this template: http://www.mediafire.com/download/e2r944dzjn573yt/K4_Template_Normal_Map.dds Thanks so much JST. I really prefer this to the stock one, though the transition from PSD to XCf has been, shall we say, less than painless lol!
