Esac_mirmidon Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I have a question about de temperature setting in mission editor. it could be adjusted between 0º to 20º if i remembered OK. My question is: This adjustment of Cº affects to the aircarfts consumption? The more temperature, higher fuel consumption? And in consecuence, the rotation speed and take off speed are affected by this temperature settings or only the weight is the factor to take care?. Thanks for any reply. Esac_mirmidon Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Nobody knows it? Please try to help me. I´m very interested in this issue. Thanks " You must think in russian.." mikoriad Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 In real life you're correct, engine performance and airfoil performance will decrease, as the temp increases. All this is due to air becoming less dense when temperature and humiditly go up. Now whether this is calculated and simulated in the game, your guess is as good as mine. I've personally done some half-assed tests and found no difference in performance dependant on temp. That's my 8 cents...:D Althlon X2 6400+ 3.2 ghz EVGA 8800GT SC - 512mb X-45 MOMO pedals
Esac_mirmidon Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Thanks mikoriad. This is better than nothing. I really only test different fuel consumptions at different heights. But considering that you can select from 0º to 20º degrees in mission editor this issue must have a reason. Or could be only an eye candy?. Well , let´s wait for any other reply. Thanks again miko " You must think in russian.." Bublik Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 The fuel consumption depends on altitude and speed for all flyables in LO. Temperature does affect fuel consuption for AFM aircraft, but not for SFM. WR=210=Vladimir http://lockon-vpg.nm.ru http://whiteravens.nm.ru http://white-ravens.com
Cobra360 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Temperature does effect engine thrust IRL. I,ve tried to test it in Lockon but I can't tell if it effects it or not. Lower temp = more thrust and like wise. Then as altitude increases the temperature lowers as does air density. While you gain a little extra thrust, you lose most of it because of the air density.
Bublik Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I've used exports for tests on fuel flow, some time ago. Here is the utility (you will need to have LO in window mode): http://www.asnr47.dsl.pipex.com/files/bubl/FF.zip WR=210=Vladimir http://lockon-vpg.nm.ru http://whiteravens.nm.ru http://white-ravens.com
Esac_mirmidon Posted April 7, 2006 Author Posted April 7, 2006 Thanks for your replys¡¡ Hey Bublik..... Are you really sure that AFM planes are affected by temperature in it´s fuel consumption?. If this is true, more than one member of my squadron will take that like very good news. Awaiting confirmation..... thanks again at all. " You must think in russian.."
