Situational awareness is important too when you want to find stuff with your radar.

Understand the TEWS and learn the estimate ranges from there and know where to look for threats (direction, range, altitude).

Just to help you, contrails are from about 7000meters ( 29 000' if I got a good memory ) up to 41 000', Knowing that, its easy to find high bandits.

I just though you could be interrested in that as its related to radar operation...kind of off topic though

Did the contrails change? they use to start at 26,000 feet/8000 meters and end at 42,000 feet/12,000 meters. Wish contrails were random and not always the same.

i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

It used to be 26 200-39 500 ft, now it's dependant on temperature.
