All it needs is a tail hook surely? Anyway, I thought this aircraft was capable of such an operation, am I wrong?

Btw I am still awaiting some piccies of the new Mig 31 model, Ah I guess I will have to wait for Black Shark (I always want to call it Big Shark for some reason).

Mizzy.

PS. I have now mastered the BVR business and use Lock On as a combat sim, got bored with flying around the Crimea doing nothing ;)

The Su-25UTG does land on the Kuz. It has no weapons systems, it's only to teach pilots how to land on the Kuz.

The current 25T we have now could be modified with a hook to become the UTG but the devs probably see no point as it has no weapons. But I can see it would not bother you, Mizzy.

I somehow think the UTG is a bit more than just a T with a hook and without a payload.

Besides, you *can* land the T, but it's not easy.

You can always add some wind to help ;)

The UTG is actually a bit less than a T.:D

Beefed up landing gear, two cockpits, carrier ILS and a hook.

Every time I get the T on deck I usually break the nose gear as it rolls up the ski ramp.

I did manage to get it to stop at the top of the ramp (the trick is to touch down at about 140mph and get the chute out as you touch down) ... then it rolled backwards down again but if I hit the brakes it would tip backwards ... so it kept rolling, slewed right and fell of the side :o

Approach at 300kph, cut throttle, deploy chute before touchdown, use wheelbrakes and airbrakes, you'll be fine. No headwinds, static carrier, piece of cake.

Set Carrier speed to 30knots and wind to 30m/s to headwind to the Carrier.

The approach speed are 240km/h flaps full down. Deploy chute after touchdown and release it asap bevore you back drawn from the Carrier.

The take off with 160km/h is more difficult. :D

From what i remember' date=' the 2 cockpits are the reason, why the devs dont want to get the utg into the game. There are some technical shades.[/quote']

There wouldn't be much point to it, for a start ;)

The devs have written dual-control code before (I made a couple of mods to maximise the possibilities), but unfortunately it got junked completely after v1.02 so it'd have to be written again.

Mizzy!

You need my Su25UTG skin and various other navy-style tweaks, found in my Navy Supermod . . . . . this gives you the -UTG as a flyable aircraft and some other fun stuff.

The -UTG is a navalised version of the Su25UT (also known as the Su28 for commercial sales that never came) - the -UT was an unarmed, unarmoured version of the Su25UB. It's purely a flight trainer . . . . in my mod it's otherwise, but that allows missions built for the Su25TM to play back properly. Oh, and if you're feeling brave you can fly strike missions with the Naval Frog they never built . . . . . .

That's unncessary, all you have to do is place the Kuznetsov, do not let it move (0 knots), approach at 290 km/h (full flaps, gear), when roughly 500m away from the deck deploy speedbrakes. when 50m from the deck deploy the chute, land the thing, use wheelbrakes if needed, let your plane roll back, repack your chute hold the brakes apply 85% throttle, then release them while spplying full throttle. Your plane will go up the ramp and get airborne, after you've left theramp swith to manoeuvring flaps, retract the gear, after 4 seconds retract the flaps, and be on your merry way. No headwind or other bullsh*t.

Some headwind's realistic - and means you don't have to deploy the chute while still in the air - take off from an airfield not lined up with the Kuz, land on the Kuz, take off & go back to the same airfield. I reckon if the crosswind's too strong to land in it's to strong as a headwind.

Cheers.

headwind is for pussies, turbulence is ok, but headwind is just weak.
