drack Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 (edited) Hi Folks, I want to do some night flying in the Mig21 but am I'm having some trouble. When I make it night it looks like I'm carrying a flare around with me. No matter what I do I can see the ground around me. I tried the same thing with the SU25 and it is proper night. Every thing is dark. Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong? Thanks. Edited January 12, 2015 by drack
Fishbreath Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 If you're using the ramp start option, the landing/taxi lights are on to start. The switch is in the front left corner of the cockpit near the gear handle, if I'm not mistaken. King_Hrothgar Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Yep, the switch is next to the gear lever. It is a 3 position switch (off, taxi, land). Additionally, the gear bays have their own lights which are always on when the gear is down. You can't see their light from the cockpit but can from external view. I don't think there is a way to turn them off with the plane running.
drack Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Thanks for trying to help Folks but thats not my problem. Its a bug. Try this and you will see what I'm saying. Sit in the SU25/A10C at night on the ramp and look around. Its all dark about you. Do the same in the Mig21 and look around. Its like you have a big spot light over you that follows you about. I seem to remember an A/C having the same problem years ago. I think it was the A10C. Just have to wait for it to be sorted out.

Beslan Airfield, 5:00 AM, 1st Nov Machine is cold and dark, it is not pitch black dark outside, due to the ambient light of the airfield lighting, but I can not see anything that would come close to what you describe as "big spot light above you". MiG-21 and A-10C are exactly the same in this regard for me. As soon as you start up the MiG, the landing gear bay lights illuminate the surroundings a bit, ofc, as was stated already. But the light source is obvious in this case when viewed from the outside (F2). Post a screenshot, please.
drack Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Now wondering if I'm loseing my mind..... I just fired up the sim to take some screenshots......Its gone..... I swear I tried to do some night flying a few nights ago and it was as Ive stated. Now Ive just got to get all those fairies dancing around in front of the aircraft out of the way and I'm ready to go.............
Flagrum Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 You're not talking about snow flakes now, aren't you? :o)
Art-J Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Maybe something got fudged in your install/mod combo before last thursday update. Apparently the update corrected ground texture flickering problem around the cockpit. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
drack Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 I wonder? Thanks for the suggestions/help folks.
Frischi234 Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 i have this effect with battery switch ON all other systems are OFF
Art-J Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 I suppose these are the landing gear bay lights Flagrum mentioned. Cool, never noticed them before. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
drack Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) That was not the effect I was getting Frischi. I was getting the ground for about 1/4 of a K lit up around the aircraft even when in the air I think Art-J right. Edited December 31, 2014 by drack
drack Posted January 10, 2015 Author Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) I'm right it is there. In pic1 I haven't loaded another A/C before the mig21. In pic2 I have loaded another A/C before the mig21. If you want proper night flying you have to load another A/C before the Mig21.?????? That is the solution if you have this problem. Edited January 10, 2015 by drack
