mrmertz Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) Greetings to all and Happy New Years! Quick question. Just built a new rig and have DCS installed on it plus many modules. The "old" gaming rig went upstairs to the loft computer table. It has DCS installed, no extra modules besides the two that came with it. I take it since when installing the modules they ping the hardware to define the computers they are residing on hence if I wanted to run modules on the other computer upstairs that would mean purchasing the same for upstairs then too. I other words, one plane module can't be installed on two machines even if residing in the same household. One module purchase per machine. Just wanted to know while the sale is still active. The wife must be taking pity on me as I no know personal friends that are into flying so she wants to see wants to see what it would be like flying side by side in the computer screens with two SU-25t's after some training and practice. That's when I decided if she takes to it purchasing a couple of additional modules for her to fly on the rig upstairs. Which now that I think about it means another stick and rudder. Ugh. Poor credit card. Thanks everybody and best wishes for the New Years. Be safe and healthy. Jeff B. Edited December 31, 2014 by mrmertz

And the answer to the question - that you forgot to write down, it seems - is "yes". ... at least if you wanted to know if you got it right and that you would need to purchase new keys for the other computer. Different computer = different hardware = different key necessary. You probably also want to use a different ED webstore account for the other computer - I am not sure if you can log in into the MP master server (=webstore user id) twice. Therefore your wife should probably get her own user id.

Naj-Treg Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Hi. Is it a option to use the steam version of DCS? This way u can use DCS on both pc's under one account. I dont know if it is possible to transfer all the serials to steam. Good luck
mrmertz Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 Thanks for all the great replies! One, I've decided a while back rather than getting involved with Steam and DCS I'd stick to DCS itself as standalone. I do use Steam for other games though such as CoH, etc. Good point on creating another store account separately from my existing one too. I think I will try that. I guess I could have two separate store accounts under the same name though, would I have to make it under her name although I don't know because the registration will come back all to the same house address when filling out the info. Don't know what it's peimarily based on for registration. Thanks for the invite for flying as multiplayer team. In fourth month of full chemo now and it seems like I'm having slightly more "good" days than "not so good days". It's scary because they said 4-6 months of intense treatments so as I'm nearing the last few months one can't wonder "how well will I really get? Will this be about as good as it gets?" Oh well, I'm maintaiin the positive attitudes and try not to look into the future. The main problem now is getting up through the nights for bathroom breaks (I know....TMI!) which interrupts my sleep then I feel fatigued much of the day hence I end up grounding myself from the PC. Plus my hands still shake from side effects of the new chemo which REALLY drives me nuts. So I'm not getting the flight time practicing that I need and I have shakey hands! Its not bad when flying stick or using rudders, it's just when I'm concentrating on "small" things like switches and dials or even just writting things down or holding a glass that it becomes noticeable. So, until I learn what the hell I'm doing in this completed vast and awesome new DCS world with all the tons of options with mission designs and multiplayer and learning each aircrafts systems I'm going to be doing the best I can when I can in the meantime. I guess the nickname under my cockpit would say "Shakey"! Thanks again. The machine I built in the den I have the ASUS Rampage Extreme V running my new 5930 chip at 4.5 with H110 water cooling and 16 GB of the DDR4 and the GeForce 780ti so everything seems to be stable. My good friend helped me assemble it as I found it really hard to hold hands steady for the small screws and stuff. The one upstairs is almost the same setup using water cooling and about the same hardware but is three years earlier and is coupled with the GTX590 graphics card which is fine but showing its age I think. That rig was running my 780ti before I swapped it into the newer machine. I'll just have to see how frame rates are with the older rig before heading into multi player I guess but I suppose I should be good with the new rig as I don't want to lag anyone. Thanks again Gang! Good advice and I appreciate it all! Jeff B. Aka mrmertz PS - have been showing off DCS to a couple of friends/family via the vids on YouTube and they are pretty impressed, especially when the professional flight chatter matches the flying. They all say it's like watching a documentary more than a flight sim! So, I may have two more people coming onboard to DCS here very soon too...hopefully! Keep up the good work guys!
mrmertz Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 I am sure you know it and have told her, but, just in case, your wife is gem!! Thanks. I'm going to cut her loose on the rig downstairs first with the SU-25T, walk through slowly the training step by step and see how she takes to it. Who knows? If she can get through all the basic flying okay and still shows an interest once she learns how to use the weapons systems then I KNOW she'll be "in" as having the ability to blow targets up and with the graphics and all she'l be hooked at that point. She is definitely a tomboy. Then that's when I'll invest in another set of CH stuff with F-16 Fighter stick and rudder peddles. Possibly even a newer graphics card but that all cost money and we all know tax time is looming...which I'm not crazy about. I'll keep you guys posted for fun just to see how this big experiment goes with her as I think this all came about after my two friends used to be online with me gaming every weekend but since the cancer thing they seem to have drifted off to other ventures. Don't know why, but oh well. So I guess she wants to try to fill their shoes so to speak. Shakey Out! mrmertz

I'm in a different timezone though, but i fly a lot at night. Now I have heard some on this 104th server. Is that the designated multiplayer server or something beyond that. I also saw a post that only certain aircraft are "certifed" to fly on it. Just curious. I have much to learn. Thanks Buddy! mrmertz
fixen Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 104th is a public multiplayer server. Almost all aircraft can be used in their missions. It's one of the most visited and stable multiplayer server.
