Hi hopefully someone can help me out.

Like many others have experienced and commented the visibility issue in DCS World is one of the biggest problems that keep plaguing this otherwise great sim.

I run the sim at the standard 1080p resolution with most of settings set to high, my monitor is a nothing special Samsung LED 22''.

My question for those in the know how, would a much larger monitor (with a correspondingly larger resolution) improve visibility in the sim??

What resolution, monitor size should I go for but most importantly will the visibility issue be better, or does it make no difference regardless of the resolution used??

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Large monitors do not have larger resolutions by default. Higher resolution will help but probably not until you hit 4K.

ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1

Once you go big you will never go back. I'm using a 47" LG large screen TV running HD (1080p) and it looks great.

It's about arm's reach from my seat so it does make it easier to see targets IMO.

I think the larger screen makes the small pixelated images easier to spot.

It works for me but I suggest you try before you buy to make sure it works for you.

Same here 55 inch at 1080p and in 3d. The size I think makes a difference and if you guys run nvidia dsr will help even more! Very true once you go big it's hard to go back, I came from 3screen nvidia surround and like one big screen way better.

My tv is a Sony 55 802a

I run 3 1920 x 1080 monitors, so using 5760x1080 resolution, and I can pick up the tanker at ranges in excess of 6 miles.

That of course is when I know which way to look.

Thanks for your help guys. I do have a large plasma LG TV as my secondary monitor, which I use mostly to watch series movies but I never really thought about using it as a primary. Its kind of offset from my desk so it will be a little bit of a hassle to set it up but I will give it a try and see if it makes a difference.

3 40" TV's for the main view and a 22" touchscreen for gauges. I WIN! for the now... :D

58" 4K TV here (I win :D)

joke aside, with large screen you can use smaller FoV which actually helps with visibility (most people use too high FoV and then use zoom to check more closely, which is not realistic either)

Two things matter for spotting. Contact size and contact shape.

A big monitor has bigger pixels. So you see contacts more easily. But identification is just as difficult. A higher resolution decreases your ability to spot a single pixel BUT once closer you can see the shape earlier. Best is both! Big monitor at high resolution.

Whilst we're on the subject, are there any tips for settings to maximize visibilty in an A2A situation in terms of Antialiasing etc. Does HDR help or hinder?

I have a 22 inch Dell monitor at 1920x1080 but as I'm getting older I find it hard to track another aircraft in a dogfight. I have cleaned my glasses btw.
