Hi all

First off :

I've been looking into getting some pedals after a few years of playing DCS with a twist stick. I was just wondering what your opinion is on different pedals , and wich you prefer and for what reasons. Any input in apreciated.

Secondly :

I've also been looking at a logitech g940, since it comes with pedals and my X52pro is getting... weird to say the least and could use replacement. I bought a G940 back in 2010 or 2011 to play black shark but less then 2 weeks after getting it my dog bit trough the cable that connects the pedals to the stick, and warranty didnt cover it.. I haveonly a few hours of "used" time with it and i honestly cant remember it at all. Nor was i experienced enough to really know what the hell i was doing in the first place. I ended up leaving it alone for a few months (lets just say , with the few hours i was able to play , the KA50 kicked my ass). After wich i bought an X52pro along with the A-10. That really got me into flight sism again and led me to play most of the other DCS modules and civilian simulators.

So... what are the best pedals to get , and what is your general opinion on the G940 as a whole? I still have mine lying around here somewhere and it seems it would work pretty well as a HOTAS for the A10 , plenty of 4 way switches and buttons. They're not that expensive either and have force feedback , so i'm interested in picking up a new one maybe.

Thank you for your time and feedback.

Best pedals IMO are mfg crosswind

Dont get a G940... go with an MS FFB2. I made the mistake of upgrading to a G940 and its not worth the money. Very harsh cogging of the FFB motors. A massive deadzone with no FFB effects and the reversal bug means it needs modification to work acceptably IMO.

I own a G940 for some years, and after open and replace the wires on the throttle unit to fix the reversal bug I don't have any problem with it. As Random says, the dead zone in the center of the stick is the major drawback, but if you don't try nothing better you are going to learn to live with it.

In my case, I order Hotas Warthog with the idea of using it to play flybywire aircraft and still use the G940 for helos and older planes, but when I touch the Warthog and make a couple of flights with it, tried to use again the G940 with the ka-50 but the difference is so big than I'm unable to use it again. I thought that the lack of force feedback on the Warthog would be a game breaker with helicopters, but was not the case. So actually I'm using the G940 only for the pedals.

Why not fix the wiring on your pedals and wait for something new ? I have some doubts about the purchasing of the Warthog, but actually I buy them again, but their high price is a serious issue.

Maybe a bit late but buy new pedals Saitek's or CH or Crosswinds.

Please don't buy another G940 if the one you have is working fine. The stick is really quite nice and Logitech even got rid of the reversal bug on the Hall sensor. But the rest of the G940 is hindered by poor design/construction. If you're even only a tiny bit skilled (as I am) you can fix it though.

Replacing or fixing the throttle wires stops the potentiometers from spiking, it does not cure the reversal bug. To cure the reversal bug you have to run all the pots in the throttle through another USB board like a BUO836X.

Thank you all for your replies. Problem is i have no clue how to fix the broken wire myself... i'll probably cause more damage to it if i try to mess with it :/ But i'll look into it :)

The stick and throttle will still work without the pedals. If you can't fix them it's not a great loss.:)

Yeah i know (i did NOT know that when i bought ym x52..) do you have any experience with the X52 , could you recommend wich one would be better? Thanks for your help

Had an x45 years ago, the G940 was it's replacement due to age. The G940 is a better stick, more accurate with a two stage trigger.

The G940 throttle is not bad, split throttle and alot of buttons but precision throttle work, like tanking or formation, is more difficult due to the "reversal bug".

Since you already have it, use the G940 is my advice. It's a wee bit better than a saitek.

I've modded my throttle with a BU0836x and use my CH pedals and that's a nice setup. I did plan to run the G940 pedals through the BU0836x but can never find the time to do it:)
