Is the R-77 missile available for the SU-27 as an armament ? Reason im asking is because the other day i was playing online on the TAW server and i got hit and in the top of the screen it was saying that i got hit with R-77 .

In the ED main page for the SU they don't list the R-77 as an available option so i was wondering if what i saw was correct or maybe im missing something.

Available on the Mig29S only.

Apparently the R-77 is not fielded in any great numbers by the Russian VVS or PVO and in any case not on the Su-27B. There's a mod which I think is available on the downloads area of the DCS web site that enables it, though this would probably be thought of as unacceptable for use in MP games. Not sure if the Su-27 as modelled even has the missile datalink for mid-course guidance.

It's a shame because the R-27ER is... sub-optimal... in performance.

System Spec: Cooler Master Cosmos C700P Black Edition case. | AMD 5950X CPU | MSI RTX-3090 GPU | 32GB HyperX Predator PC4000 RAM | | TM Warthog stick & throttle | TrackIR 5 | Samsung 980 Pro NVMe 4 SSD 1TB (boot) | Samsung 870 QVO SSD 4TB (games) | Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Personal wish list: DCS: Su-27SM & DCS: Avro Vulcan.

According to Wiki the earliest version of SU-27 to suppourt R-77 is SU-27SM, which is modernised. SU-27B in FC3 is likely not equipped with Zshuk radar of MIG-29C and 27SM. SU-30, 32,34,35S,37 all carry it. Modernized MIG-21 does also. Too bad DCS Mig-21 simms version that is not compatible with R-77 or R-73. I would love to have a systems interaction in DCS: SU-27. Flying it, in DCS, with PFM(or AFM) is extremely enjoyable.

Still in DCS SU-27, you can que and fire R-27R/ER/T/ET without radar, as long as EO is locked.

One fun tactic to use in DCS: SU-27 is to load up your ship and your wingman with only 4 R-73, and perhaps one R-24 on centerline. Take no more then 65% fuel, depending on mission. THen set up a flight of SU-34 and or 30 loaded up with R77 on all stations, except ECM wingtip pods. Have that flight escort your flight, and have it follow you. Use them as missile trucks, like B-1R concept of USAF. Have them engage enemy at long range with R-77's. While enemy is busy evading 77's, close in, silently(no radar) and use your onboard R-73 using EO and helmet queing.

Likely? Of course it's not equipped with the radar developed for MiG-29M, but then again neither are MiG-29S and Su-27SM which are equipped with modified variants of their original radars (N019 and N001, respectfully).

The SU-27 is , AFAIK, late 1980's and early to mid 1990's timeframe. However , I beleive that, F-15C is at best from 1996-98. AIM-120C began deliveries in 1996, achieving full operational capability in '98.

For 2003 F-15C, the AIM-120C would be C-5 or -8, or AIM-120D. By 2003 F-15 had HMCS and AIM-9X early capability.

So we have an SU27 from 1989, and an F15 from 2003?

Is that about right?

You can't define it like that. We have a bunch of random capabilities from different times thrown together.

Our Su-27 is the S version, now what capabilities it's missing I don't really recall. But from what I remember R-77 still isn't really in service IRL in Russia.

F-15C has mostly features from 80s era, except for the AMRAAMS, specifically the C5 which is from ~ 1999. Albeit important things are missing from the missile, like not flying to last known intercept point in case bug is lost, and some other stuff. Essentially we have a downgraded slammer, and then I haven't mentioned the infamous guidance issues, but all of the missiles suffer from some sort of guidance problems, so that's fine I guess.

We're also missing key features like datalink that already existed back in the 90s and the RWR is missing a ton of functionality.
