Hi all,

 

I'd like to know how to prevent players to be able to ask ground crew to rearm/refill gun ammunitions.

In the mission editor, I found how to do this for every weapon ("full info" when clicking on an airbase/ship/FARP etc + unticking), except for the gun.

 

For instance, when I set a Ka-50 with zero ammo loaded in gun at takeoff, the client is still able to ask for a gun rearming. I'd like to prevent this and force a complete unability to rearm the aircraft on a friendly base.

Set that specific ammo in the warehouse for that airfield to zero that should do it I would think.

If yes, then I already set the quantity to 0 for all items. But I can't find something related to gun ammunitions.

 

Ktulu2, I already tried to set the airfield to neutral, I can rearm the gun. Even when I set to enemy coalition, I'm able to rearm the gun too (airfield automatically turns to friendly coalition when the mission is started, because there is no "enemy" force on it).

Yes, all type of ammo/payload is listed, excepted internal gun ammos.

 

Moreover, I can't see any setting in mission editor related to ground crew options.

 

That said, the mission designer of VA-Virtual Aerobatics managed to find a way to remove some option in the ground crew dialog menu ingame :

As you can see, he simply removed the gun ammo rearming option.

 

So my guess is it's done with scripting, or just changing a few lines in a configuration file.

Way back in v1 of DCS A-10C this was possible, where an aircraft could land at a friendly base and repair, but not rearm, at all.

 

Then came the warehouse concept (which is a WIP) that allows ordnance to be restricted, but there has not been a setting to restrict the cannon ammo.

 

I do not recall if now the cannon is replenished with a repair these days, something tells me it is.

It's a good thing if ED can add it to its to-do list.

 

But before this happens, do you have any clue or workaround to fix this ?

I guess a quick .lua or .cfg file edit could do the trick, but I have no idea which one I should modify.

Scripting could also be a solution.

Thanks WC, I will see if its requested yet, and if not I will put in a feature request. It should be there.

Would it also be possible to request limitations on a per aircraft basis?

 

The Warehouse concept is great, but one problem with limiting weapons is that you can't stop someone from paying no heed to it. Example, you might want to limit fuel tanks to one per plane, but all you can do is limit the number of tanks. If someone joins the mission and loads up 3 tanks every time without regard for the mission set up, that can be problematic.
