Only just discovered DCS World, although been simming with FSX and earlier versions for years.

Is there by chance, any BASIC instructional documents anywhere for DCS? Maybe a PDF somewhere that I'm not seeing?

Would like to setup my flight controllers and button functions etc.

Or is it very much 'suck it and see' ;-)

Legendary.

My favorit epsiodes are those with Father Noel Furlong (Graham Norton as a priest on steroids). The scenes in the cave and in the caravan are great. And Mrs Doyle...

Go on go on go on go on...

Seriously, in answer to the question, can I ask which aircraft you are interested in learning?

I'd recommend the A-10C. Although it is a complex aircraft, it is the oldest fixed wing airframe in DCS, and has widespread videos, tutorials, and a series of campaigns which can be used to test your abilities.

By far the best approach I think is to join an online squadron. Most will provide advice, support, and quite a number will assist with one to one training.

First steps...

1. Learn to cold start it using the training mission.

2. Using your experience with FSX, you should be able to take yourself through take offs, flying circuits, and landing.

3. Start to work your way through the rest of the training missions, and you'll soon find your way around the cockpit.

Just look at the A-10C as a plane that's easy to fly, but hard to master, and even after years, I still learn something new every time I fly online.
