Hey, folks.

As far as I'm aware, DCS World (now and 2.0) does not utilize multi-core processing. So, my question:

I currently play FC3 with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 at 2.5 Ghz. I've purchased a $30 Core Duo E8600 rated at 3.33 ghz. (bus speed and cache identical to my Q9300). If I pull the 2.5 quad and replace it with the 3.33 duo, will I see a boost in performance, given that we're only seeing single core support anyway? I use Windows 7.

Thanks for the reply.

According to passmark, the E8600 has 30% better per core performance at stock speeds. I wouldn't put too much faith in that number of course, but it is clearly better for a 1 or 2 core game like DCS. DCS does use a second core for sound BTW. Not a huge amount of processing there, but it is worth mentioning.

I'd give it a try as well. Rock 'da Clock :=)

I dont have the hard data at hand, but the Dual Core should also have a significantly lower TDP and OC a little better without pushing things too far.
