Shaman Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 How to reduce smoke effects, I can't see anything I am firing at. Otherwise I hit these MiG-15s, but mostly damage to a point enemy can return to base or leak fuel beforehand. If I could maintain longer burst if I can keep tally on my bandit while firing, I guess I'd land more rounds each time. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Foul Ole Ron Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 The file that needs to be changed to remove the over exaggerated smoke effects is in the link below: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135195 The problem is that this is a shared file so the Sabre probably the wasn't taken into account when this file was changed a few versions back. If you rename this file there'll be no gun smoke at all and combat becomes playable again. As it's a shared file whatever else uses it for smoke also won't display but to be honest I don't notice any bad effects from removing it. You'll have to keep doing this removal after every DCS update. Hopefully EDGE will sort this problem out for good.
Zeke Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 you can also remove the smoke in the F86.lua file in the CoreMods folder. We have an edited file in our server pack on the 39th web site: http://39thvfs.enjin.com/

shagrat Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Integrity Check... The server host checks if certain files on the client and on the server are the same, or some "cheater" edited his local files to gain an advantage... For example can see the enemy, as he is the only one that has no gunsmoke. shagrat Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 They deactivate the integrity check may be, or ED changed the checked folders... Last time I tried the ACG mod it was a problem. The weapons.lua definitely is checked... The weapons.lua definitely is checked... The ACG mod changes things other than just the gunsmoke ... like the LoD settings for the WWII birds. You can download a separate mod to remove the gunsmoke from the Sabre that work. It would be nice if the guys that run the Korean War server would make a similar pack with reduced gunsmoke, external sounds (not really a problem here), and slightly adjusted the Lods.
