Yup, ignorance on the part of whoever told that British armor to go into the A-10s kill box. Maybe they didn't know what a kill box was either. We won't get into the blue on blue between two Brit armored units in OIF. :P

ohh that'll be the 'Kill box' they told everyone about after the incident

Yes, kill boxes were established in various areas in Western Iraq and Kuwait. They were there to try and minimize allied aircraft exposure to ground threats when doing VID on targets. Inside a kill box, any vehicles or troops were assumed to be hostile and fired upon without VID. I also mentioned the Blue on Blue between two British armored vehicles in OIF to illustrate that nobody is above it. I won't call those Brits ignorant or trigger happy though. In battle, all kinds of things can go wrong...COMs failures/interruptions, unforeseen resistance, unforeseen geographical features, unforeseen weather conditions. These all make fast-moving ground and air forces lose sight of each other, lose track of Blue vs. Red positions, and fratricide occurs. BTW...the US is at the international average of 3% fratricide...just like everybody else, just so you know. In cases of criminal negligence which resulted in fratricide, those responsible are court-martialed. The penalties may not be as stiff as some in the civilian world would like, but super harsh penalties such as death tend to take all of the fight right out of the rest of the military personnel, because now they are afraid to take ANY risks. Risk is part of winning any battle.

If you'd like to have a discussion about this (in relation to the topic of course ;), please feel free to do so...but please stay away from politics. :D

Ok, you can say that then contradict yourself with this

Seems to me A10 pilot can't be at fault no matter what I say just a case of somebody elses fault. Dont want to start a meaningless debate that will just end up a flame war so dont come back at me quoting how im in the wrong when you do as much yourself.

Its difficult to say if the magnification and resolution is the same. Considering the sizes of most of our screens, the short answer is no, it isn't. I wonder if the guys who have the projection systems have any input on whether or not its easier to find and identify targets when the TVM is life-size.

Just zoom it in (the entire HDD, not the image on it) and see for your self :smilewink:

Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
