WildBillKelsoe Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 WARNING: PIC HEAVY In 2011 or 2012 I purchased three 1:48 scale models, one for P-51D, one for A-10A, and one for Ka-50. Both A-10A and P-51D were Revell, and the shark was Italeri. Please bear in mind that this is my first modeling experience. I'm now closing the shark. I'll update this thread with more progress photos each week. Mistakes were made due to lack of experience, first, the rotor assembly, then halves assembly. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
Mainstay Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Some advice ; Get proper cement so you dont have those insane blobs of glue remains. Example of a proper cement ; http://www.ebay.com/itm/MR-HOBBY-GUNZE-SANGYO-THIN-MR-CEMENT-S-40ML-MC129-FOR-PLASTIC-MODEL-/190817908640 Get some good tools to remove the plastic from the sprues. That way you wont damage the plastic you still need to build. example http://www.sunwardhobbies.ca/excel-hobby-blades-and-tools/sprue-cutters Also a hobbyknife and tweezer set is recommended. See those large gaps ! Putty putty putty and lots of sanding :) Also watch tons and tons of videos on you tube how to start with modeling. The sooner you learn it the right way the better and faster you progress.
Buzzles Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 If it's your first ever modelling attempt, I'd suggest you do some reading on tips and tricks, there's loads of decent guides out there. I'll give you starter: Basecoat everything when it's still on the sprue, preferably with a spray gun (can if that's all you've got). The majority of painting may be best done on the sprue depending on the actual model and construction of. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!

WildBillKelsoe Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 I have to admit that this model is difficult for a starter like me, but I got some dental enamel files and shaved off few of the sprue leftovers. Thanks for all tips and resources. I will update with progress. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower.
