Post your personal favorate mission in this thread.

Lets get some variety going and a place where you can pick and choose from best of the best missions.

 

Hers's mine it's called "Choppers Down"

Sorry I can't remember who is the original creator ?(created by Mualeflyer_edit COM)

But I've had it since the beginning when I was flying A-10.

Later I switched to su-25t and vanilla so I changed the mission to be su-25t

It has everything, rescue, weather, ground vehicles on the move,

You name it.

It is also survivable if you stay fast and safe.

This one by LucasDigital is still one of my fave's. I tried it when I started to get a little into a2a. I found it just impossible to do, the MiG-29 has short legs and no sooner would I get into the fight than my wingnuts would all cry off with bingo fuel.

Tweaked it in the mision editor so it was 2 Su-27's instead of 4 MiG-29 and it was a blast!

 

As for other stuff, I still like the mission pack by MBot

He has a talent for adding a few statics and moving units to make an airbase feel alive. Some nice different ideas too, check out the SpyGames mission.

 

For a long range escort mission, try Escort presidentielle on http://www.checksix-fr.com - left side menu click Lockon then missions and it is in the list of 20 most recent on the right hand side. Even though it is in french, its pretty obvious what you gotta do, escort the president firstly in his IL-76 to the Crimea where he lands and transfers to an E-3 to take him to the aircraft carrier. Long mission so get a comfy chair!

There was a default, stock, plain-Jane Flanker 2.0 mission in 1999 where you had to shoot down a reconnaissance MiG-25R.

 

It was so short and simple, with so little actual combat, that the fps was ok, and there weren't any glaring avionics modeling inadequacies apparent (since there was so little use of avionics required). Since the target was at high altitude, you could actually acquire it visually from a long distance away by its contrails.

 

The mission took only a minute to complete, but it's been my all-time favourite ever since. It fit the philosophy, "less is more." :) It was the only mission that I felt showed what Flanker 2.0 could do well, rather than trying to make it into more than it was really capable.

First, I still cant decide about my favorite (takes some time to get over noob level in this one), but i'll edit this post and upload it when i choose one. :unsure:

 

This is a great thread and i hope it grows with lots of peoples favorite missions. It is silly to go around sites and download missions becouse there are tons and you dont know which is worth downloading.

This way they get refined and filtered through peoples choices and I hope that each mission found in this thread is gonna rock. So go ahead folks and post those favorites and tell us few words why you like it.

I think this is a great idea but would like to make a little point. It would be much appreciated if the Lock On Version was attached to the missions listed so I know if the missions will work with my LO Version (curently 1.12a)

Sumoscouse - I am guessing here as I only have v1.02, but I assume that (unlike tracks) that missions are backward/forward compatable? I know I have to tweak FC missions a little when I D/L them to play on v1.02 Lockon. If they have the 25T in them, I have to replace it with another aircraft, also any of the new static objects naturally don't appear, but otherwise no probs.

 

Whether the mission works as the author intended is a completely different matter due to changes in AI and missile behaviour....

Thanks for the reply Brit Radar Dude.

 

The reason I flagged this was because some time ago I read that Missions created in earlier Versions would not work Correctly in Updated Versions.

 

If this was the case then I felt that people using newer Versions of the Game would be missing out on Excellent Mission Packs, Campaigns and Mods ETC created in earlier Versions. Ironhands Tutorials are a classic example. Great work on his behalf BTW.

 

This is just my 'axe to grind' STS (so to speak). This game should be able to support any mission etc created for any version - is this not the way the gaming industry works?

I was also impressed by When Hogs Fly, so impressed in fact that it features on my web site: Check out the Campaigns button at http://www.dpsflight.com/DPSflightUK.htm

 

I think I downloaded it from http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php a year or more ago.

 

Some of the missions in the A-10 campaigns that came with Lock On weren't too bad at all; the missions with A-10s doing A-10 sort of stuff like roaming around over a target rich battlefield.

Seeing as this does not seem restricted to Single player only. I'd like to add the mission that is currently hosted on the 169th_Dedicated.

 

Nothing beats a MiniWar theatre when there are 16+ players flying with objectives.

Su-25 mission

 

Hi,

 

Although most people seem to have posted missions made by others the thread is for favourite missions & this is my favourite for the Su-25 - I guess 'cause I made a mission to do what I enjoy doing (throwing the frog around).

 

It's short ( < 15 min take off to land ) & best fun if flown NOE dodging AAA, stingers & iglas, & one mission from a campaign.

Flew your mission about 60 times now

My pilot is blue in the face from being ressurected so much

You don't even want to know my % success rate (pitiful)

 

I have a new favorite mission::joystick:

 

It's based on EWR guided Shore Defense Guns SAU Bereg and Msta

Idea from tflash (Belgium)

 

Russian battle group is tasked to destroy retreating Ukrainian battle group

Both side have air support

 

Your mission is su-25T to take out two Ukrainian EWR fast and hard

 

You will fly using coastal foothills as cover

 

Air defense is tough but you have SEAD assistance on your second target

 

This mission is so good it's fun just to sit back and watch the AI action first then fly the mission after you've seen what's going on

 

There are lot's of Anti-Ship cruse missles flying around TU-95's BIG GUN's

Defensive and Offensive manuvering

 

Check it out

I'd like to edit the mission for multiplayer, flying with a human wingman is much more fun than with the braindead AI wingman. I'll put the edited mission back here.

 

So could you tell the missions declassify password?
