ZQuickSilverZ Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) I am using a TrackIR 4 with 5 software. I have issues clicking switches in the cockpit because I can't keep my view stable. After watching this super stable video (link included below) it is OBVIOUS I need some guidance in how to set up TrackIR. I will include the YouTube LINK and a track so you can see what I am talking about. No matter what settings I try I seem to have this issue. Can anyone with a STABLE view give me their setup.TrackIR Help.trk Edited March 6, 2015 by ZQuickSilverZ I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. Blooze Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 The first thought I have is that your hat/proclip may be too far away from the camera. If it is more than 18 inches away it will be difficult to control the movement. Be sure the camera is between 12 and 18 inches from your hat or proclip. The other suggestion would be to reduce the speed slider in the TrackIR software to see if that helps. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
agrasyuk Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Part of the trick is to pause tracking. Helps if this function is on your HOTAS Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
cichlidfan Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) @Blooze Where do you have your camera? Mine is on top of my monitor and I can't imagine sitting only 18" away from it, much less 12". NP recommends 2-5 feet. @QuickSilver Pause and/or precision mode are critical for some things. For general setup and tweaking, this is the best set of instructions that I have seen. Blooze Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Here is an image from the manual and it resembles my setup. The greater the distance between the clip and the camera, the faster the view will move making it more difficult to control smooth movement. Shortening that distance will often improve control issues in my experience. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ZQuickSilverZ Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 I use the TrackClip pro. I sit aboutt 3 feet away when adjusted for angle. I will try the suggestion of lowering the speed. Thank you. Blooze Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I had a friend with a similar problem that used a TV for a monitor. He was able to use one of these to create an extension for the camera without obstructing his view and it worked great. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Blooze Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 To begin with click HERE to see a list of games that TrackIR is supported in. So even though the manual says the distance should be between 2 and 6 feet between the proclip and the camera, that may work for some of these games but IMO is not optimal for DCS aircraft. If the camera is positioned correctly, the proclip has been selected in the software window and the alignment has been properly set up then it should work fine with default settings. If not then IMO something is wrong with the setup. If your camera is 3 feet away from the proclip I doubt that until you get closer no amount of settings tweaking will give you what you are looking for. Try just moving closer to see how it changes the sensitivity and I think you will see what I mean. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Fixxxer46 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Settings is very personal, and are set on a different of factors. Feel, Accuracy, Range from "camera". To name a few. Follow the video posted above, and you will be fine. Sure alot of fine tuning is recommended. Play around and see what the different settings do. I can post mine, but you will probably have to tune that aswell. One important thing: Before you start, make sure the lights are sentered on the crosshairs when you look from the camera. I have mine setup level to my ClipPro and about 1.3 feet. I always tick the exclusive box. Edit: Switching buttons, especially alot of them, i usually pause the TIR. Which i have setup on the mic switch (recenter and pause, up ,down)DCS.zip Edited March 7, 2015 by Fixxxer46
Tone71 Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I have issues clicking switches in the cockpit because I can't keep my view stable. I have this problem too. It's weird because the same settings in other games (RoF, BoS, ArmA) are super stable whereas in DCS the view seems to jitter. I've always just put up with it. Tone71 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Okay, I'm getting somewhere. Seeing as our other titles are okay, it must be something within DCS, so I started messing again with the view axis tuning. You can see the input value clearly jittering on this screen, and for me it affects the view yaw more than pitch or z translation. I've found that turning the "Saturation Y" down to 40, for this axis, has really reduced the shaking. Within TrackIR I previously had to turn the "Speed" setting down, to try and reduce the jitter but I've now put this back at 1 and left "Smooth" at 50. Give this a go and let me know how you get on. I shall experiment further... Blech Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Hi, I have a TrackIR 4 with the Standard Clip and software 5 Had the same problems with profiles created by "my own" Than I tried this one here The direct link is not working ? use goggle and search for : "http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/250466" -> Track IR 5 profile Good - but without "deadzones" I tried to keep the curves as far as possible and created a version with deadzones Settings Speed : 1 Smoth :10 Camera : all default In combination with "Precision" the best, view stable TrackIR profile I ever had so far for the A-10C and MIG21 ( And it seems to be the same for the F-86 and PD51. But I tested it here only for a few seconds ) Try the profile linked above with Precision ON for your plane/s Perhaps it will be ok or a good basis Edited March 10, 2015 by Blech
Tone71 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I do not see "saturation" as a setting. Can you tell me where to find that? In DCS settings, axis commands, select TrackIR yaw view, tune axis, the saturation settings are on the right, with deadzone and curves. ZQuickSilverZ Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 I am embarrassed to say I never noticed that..... I would also like to add TrackIR on FC3 aircraft works perfectly, yet on DCS titles it is super SUPER shaky. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. I would also like to add TrackIR on FC3 aircraft works perfectly, yet on DCS titles it is super SUPER shaky. Don't be, I've always overlooked them and never really experimented with them on the TrackIR axes. I believe you configure them separately for each aircraft too, which is good if the FC3 view is okay (I'll have to see if this is the same for me). Hopefully a bit of trial and error and we should both eliminate the shaky view  Windows 10 Home, Intel Core i7-9700K @ 4.6GHz, Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (8GB VRAM) on 34" LG curved monitor @ 3440x1440, 32GB RAM, TrackIR 3 (with Vector Expansion), Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Combat Pedals, Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs.
