Landing with wingman

Only once I was able to have my faithful wingman landing close to me @ my 5 o'clock. All the other times as soon as I touch down he gets back to the mission (even when it is brought to end) and i must order him to land manually.

 

What shall I do to have him perform the right way the landing pattern?

I've never worried about having him land alongside of me but, as I understand it, you need to be well to the left side of the runway and landing at the appropriate speeds and angles.

I have noticed when landing the A-10 that my wingman is more likely to land with me rather than touch and go if my landing speed is low - 125 or less. Otherwise, no matter how much runway I give him or how pretty my landing is, he just flies away.

Of course, this is the same guy who goes "defensive" at the first SAM launch and dumps all his ordnance. So I don't really give a crap whether he ever makes it home.

Take the real wingman. The one that talks to you on TS. His AI is far superior then anything ED will come up with. He can land whichever side u tell him.

 

That's why I like flying in a team formations while in hyperlobby.

But - if you have to use AI - keeping left & at the correct speed is the key - then they're quite happy to keep you company.

On your way back to your airbase, have him form a wall formation along side you, then get him to close formation. If you enter the landing pattern like that and land fairly slow and smooth he should land with u.
