Hello, yeah, it's been a while.

Not much, how `bout you?

So, I got back into this because of the Hawk, nifty little jet, but it has no comms

at all in it's beta format, as it tends to crash things, I am told.

So I figured I'd fire up a good old A-10 campaign again, as I've flown them all a couple

of times or more.

The last time I flew, moths ago, I had to jump through some hoops to get the easy comms

going, as I can transmit (Auto?) but no one responds. With the Advent of the latest patch,

it's back again.

I would normally have just blown off patch 1.2.16 like usual to avoid this, but it had

to be installed for the new RAF trainer.

I hope there is a quick fix short of attempting to relearn radios and switching freqs for any

object I need to call in to assist.

Yeah I gave up on easy communication a few patches back and it was fairly easy to learn the 'proper' way. Not sure of current easy status but it has not been mentioned in any patch notes.

All works here, but bug spotted see below.

In old campaign properties of JTAC waypoint triggers are now conflicting each other. I noticed there is conflict between what briefing says, what is command set for JTAC frequency, and then once jtac has its target group assigned in ME there in its properties frequencies are wrong again... in conflict with already set command freq.

If you come on <51>US server and vote for mission Flashpoint Caucasus, there you'll have JTAC that works like a charm with EASY COMMS. Took an effort to test it, set commands and assigned targets properties hold no conflicting frequencies and calls :) Since easy comms only dial in frequencies on local PC in cockpit and function also prints these frequencies in comm menus (so we do not enforce on server COMMs setting, it is client's choice).

However there is one uneasy going bug with EASY COMMS, rotate your VHF FM rotator knob to Intercom, the moment you bring VHH FM (HOTAS MIC switch aft) menu up it knob rotates back to VHF when you call for weapons payload change... haha! So once you Okay new weapons and pilot asks for new payload... with cockpit closed ground crew won't copy because knob will be returned back to VHF position. arrr.

To work around this with EASY COMMs, open cockpit canopy.... obviously, or use keyboard command function to bring payload screen and they okay changes. This is the ONLY bug I had, and I use EASY COMMs all the time, my preference - this is all for the fact of having a list of frequencies in upper right radio comm interface menus.

I greatly appreciate the heads up on the cause of the issue, or at least a workaround

that doesn't involve re-installation of the whole she-bang.

I had, long ago, tweaked my missions to start on the runway, to avoid the lenghty

start-up every time. I fired up a mission with a ramp start, and the easy comms

were working just fine, thanks very much!

Well, for some reason the ATC "F1" command to land wasn't recognized, but my wingman

brought in the Mavericks when I requested he do so, and that is GREAT!

I will try the canopy manuver when I get some more stick time in the next day or 3.

Thanks for the input Shaman!

Well, the second attempt was a big ol' bust.

I started hot ramp park, popped the canopy, and requested reload.

Got confirmation, and then notification that load was completed of the same loadout I

had hung. Closed canopy, requested startup, as it was the only option available

on the ATC menu. No response.

Taxiied to the ramp, and requested take-off as I approached the EOR area. Still nothing.

Went full acceleration, disconnected NWS, and then I get a "cannot clear" message from

ATC, followed shortly by "clear when ready."

Yay!

Or not. Call AWACS, bogey-dope, quiet.

Flight, change formation.

Crickets.

Attack by bandits, request he also take them on, not a thing. He wouldn't even attack

as I rode the silk elevator into the ocean.

In easy comms, (hence the subject title)?

No, just the "\" key to bring up the menu which says AUTO at the top, followed by recipient.

It transmits OK, as I hear my alter ego make the call, but there is no reply. At all.

Thanks, I understand you are using easy comms... I was told by a dev that it only sets the frequency for you with easy comms, that you need to still pick the radio. I am not sure when this changed, but I was told this was how it was supposed to work and got 'fixed' some time ago.

Not a bug. Works as intended according to user manual. Easy comm mode should only autotune desired frequency. Player should manually select desired radio.

I have asked that it auto select the radio as well, ut so far there is no movement on this.

I certainly don't recall that item being in the Patch notes at any time and without change pages for the manual, nobody would know to look.

I was thoroughly unaware of a needed to choose a radio, I never had to in prior iterations

that I used a year or so ago when I last flew.

Just bring up the menu, choose the Wingman, Flight, ATC, AWACS, etc. then the sub-items.

I reckon I'll just hang back until the new engine comes out in the Fall instead of re-learning

the newer commands I haven't kept up with.

I dont disagree with you, I have been bugging them to put it back the way it was, but till then, you only need to set up your Mic Switch.

Mic switch?

I was unfamiliar with that, but did a print out, and then searched the html file.

Under HOTAS, 4 positions listed. 2 look defaulted in.

Will have to give them a whirl in the AM.

Thanks for the assistance, SiTh, good to see you're still around, and as helpful as ever!

Its really not much of an issue once you get used to it, and helps you get one step closer to full radios.... that said... AUTO means auto... not partially auto, and I am gonna still bug them about that ;)
