My message #8 here last August:

=====================

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2136970&highlight=rudder+trim#post2136970

Have not flown the F-86F for quite awhile. The last few days doing a refresher.

I took the jet up applying both right rudder trim and separately left rudder trim while watching the DC Electric Turn and Slip Indicator. The indicator did not budge off center in either test. Activating the rudder either way using my rudder pedals will cause the Turn and Slip Indicator to deviate as it should.

I do not see a need for using rudder trim, yet, but the settings are in the Options/Controls settings listing for the F-86F_Real.

Some bits seem to work, but I agree the rudder trim is not in a functional state yet.

The rudder trim controls on the left hand side can be mouse clicked left and right (the switch should be spring loaded to neutral but doesn't appear to be using the mouse).

Personally I would rather use a keyboard assignment or DX button for this. Unfortunately the mapping in the control setup don't appear to work even if you set them up.

Moving the switch while just on the hot battery won't have any effect, so the battery switch must be up at least to power the primary bus (this is working correctly at the moment).

The switch then controls a conventional trim tab on the rudder (and this is working correctly at the moment).

As the tab moves through the central position, the trim T/O trim position indicator light should come on ,

Which it does.

The rudder itself has no hydraulic power, it's just cable driven.

On the ground, with no air flow over the trim tab, there will be no effect on the rudder position, or the pedals (which are just connected by cables), so we wouldn't expect to see any movement of the rudder pedal when trimming on the ground (unlike the stick).

Once in the air of course, the trim tab position should influence the rudder, amount of slip, and rudder pedal position.

None of which appears to be modelled yet, or if it is, it's not working.

I see the Rudder Trim is now mapable to a keyboard or joystick assignment, Many thanks Pilot_salute1.gif

Just to point out we now have the new working 'Rudder Trim Switch Left' (& Right) listed under 'Left Side Panel'

Rudder_Trim_017.jpg

There is also still the non-functioning 'Trim Left Rudder' (& Right) listed under 'Flight Control'

Rudder_Trim_007.jpg

Possibly a bit confusing.

What version you are using?

In our internal version the non-functioning "Trim Left Rudder" + "Trim Right Rudder" are not existent.

Thanks guys.

As I said, in our internal version(s) the non-functioning "Trim Left Rudder" + "Trim Right Rudder" are not existent. Should be fixed in next update.

I see this is also now working in the latest player available version (V1.5.2.48162.126), the Rudder Trim now has an aerodynamic effect, influencing the rudder, amount of slip, and rudder pedal position.

It has to be said it's effect is minimal, only allowing a few degrees of rudder to be trimmed in either direction, but it's working none the less. I've no reference for the amount of trim that was possible and considering the F86F is a single engine aircraft that didn't have to deal with asymmetric engine out conditions, I can only assume this amount is correct.

It's certainly enough to trim out and fly straight and level (using just rudder trim and aileron trim) an aircraft that has two full drop tanks on one side only.
