In game micro stutter fixed!

I was having issues with micro pauses every few seconds while playing and when changing views. My setup was originaly Win7 Pro x64 OS install on a Western Digital WD5000AAKX 500GB HDD, and DCS World was installed on a Seagate Baracuda XT 2TB HDD.

 

I always wanted a good SSD, but prices were too high for the size I wanted. Finally, I decided to go for an SSD again. I bought the Corsair Neutron Series XT SSD 480GB. This time I put my OS (same) and DCS World on it and the performance improvement on startup and in game play was very noticeable. Gone are the micro pauses in game and it loads much quicker than before. I'm very satisfied!

mytai01, what kind of graphics card/setup do you run? I also notice a similar "micro stutter" but I always kind of figured it was a FPS issue/ not hard disk related.

 

I just ordered a GTX 970 to replace my 760 but I REALLY want to upgrade my WD Raptor to a SSD.

 

How much gain, in game performance, would you say you gained? Not just in load times.

New egg just had the 500 GB samsung 850 evo drives up for 179 w/ free 128 GB memory stick, til midnight tonight pst

 

The memory.stick is worth $50, the one bundled in my package has a faster read/write than my internal Sata drives, lol.

Thanks. Never heard of that flash drive but $180 for the SSD is good enough and you can never have too many flash drives.

The one I got bundled when they restocked (the SSDs were listed as Out of stock at 2PM EST, checked again round 4PM and they were back, but the bundled USB stick was different.

The one bundled earlier in the day was a PNY, with a 2 star avg rati.g abd pages upon pages of DoA and worked for 1 day reviews (i just think no one had the common sense to format the buggors, as the only time I had one show.up as a 0MB drive was when it became unformatted due to being quick formatted.)

I usually use SSD's in a dock for data sets that large but I will still find a use for it. Personally, whenever possible, I format flash drives and memory cards in the device that will be writing them.

I ordered a Samsung EVO 850 SSD and installed it today, I love it. The installation was a breeze, well worth $177 for the 500gb model.

I got my hands on a PCIe SSD Card, no SATA-III Limits, for my studio rig at work,

 

Blows SSDs out of the water by like 10x the speed. (at 3x the cost, lol)
