thejimreaper Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Greetings fellow Flanker fliers, I am having a problem with getting the correct gun mode to display on the HUD. The manual says to press 3, then press C and then the Hud will display the close air combat mode and that the target will be automatically locked up on the close air combat display. When I press 3, the close air combat display appears on the HUD, but when I press C, its switches over to the gun funnel mode. Am I missing something ? Many thanks in advance.
combatace Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Then when the target come in the VS zone it will get locked and you will see aiming reticule. May be you will have to lock the target by yourself. Svend_Dellepude Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Don't press 'c' until you have a lock. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
escaner Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 In funnel mode you need to press the lock button when the target is in the HUD field of view. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mowgli Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 You should get familiar and practice with the gun funnel since when your in the middle of a dogfight not always you have the time to switch to close combat mode and then lock the target. from your question it seems that your using the keyboard - if your new to DCS than welcome and get yourself a stick asap:joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel i5 4690K | ASUS Z-97PRO Gaming Mobo | Nvidia Gigabyte GTX970 3.5/0.5 GB Windforce3 | G.Skill Ripjaws-X 2x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz | Samsung Evo 120GB SSD | Win10 Pro | Antec 750w 80 Bronze Modular
thejimreaper Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Gun selection issue Thanks for the help everyone, I have it figured out now and for the benefit of anyone else that is using an X52 joystick and having a hard time with it, this is how I did it. I have the number " 3 " key, which is pressed to enter the close air combat mode, mapped to the large black button on the X52 joystick and I it press it to enter the close air combat mode. I have the " enter " key, which is used to lock the target, mapped to the small blue button directly opposite of the large black button, I press it to lock the target. I have the " C " key which is used to arm the cannon, mapped to the other small blue button directly above the previously mentioned small blue button and I press it to arm the cannon. I have the " space " key which is used to fire the cannon, mapped to the the first " click " of the trigger button on the X52 joystick. It works really well and the sight is very accurate, but as another poster suggested I also practice with the gun funnel as well, which is much more difficult to hit the target with, but still lots of fun anyway I hope that this is useful to someone and thanks again for all the help.
