Pineapple Pete Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Greetings! My flight sim experience has been stalled because I cannot seem to figure out TIR. Before going further, yes I have read the manual. As I try to create a "profile" I find that I do not understand the significance of the various "templates." Do they have a bearing on the outcome of the curves? Can I create an exclusive profile, name it, and not refer to a "title" and have this profile work in any game? (I am only using DCS at the moment. How do I create a curve where I can look over my shoulder? I have tried many ideas. I have fiddled with the "speed" and "smooth" slider but my head movement is still to fast and unsteady. Pressing the "precision" key freezes the software. "Toggle" is checked. Sorry to seem so dense but I would be grateful for any help. I can't imagine flying DCS without it. Steve It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D

King_Hrothgar Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 You can use a single profile for all games, that's what I do. I think I simply overwrote the default. The jitteryness can be solved with the "smooth" slider. This is similar to a sensitivity setting in most games for joysticks. What it does is add a small delay to the movement and average the movements over time. The lower the smoothing, the more immediate the movement but also the more jittery. Finding the right balance between smoothness and responsiveness is a highly personal thing. I have mine set on 2 but my face is fairly close to the sensor. The speed setting is a global multiplier. The higher the speed setting, the more your in game head will move relative to your real world head. Given that the sensor can't see the backside of your clip and you can't see your monitor from behind, you can't have a 1 to 1 ratio. I found that I couldn't get a satisfactory setup like this so I ended up altering each axis curve individually. My yaw is about 15 degs/deg with a deadzone of a few degrees in the middle. Most of the other axis are setup like this too.
Pineapple Pete Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Yes. Buy I am willing to give it another go. I have been known to miss critical information? Thanks. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
Blooze Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 If your Track IR camera is more than 18 inches from your hat or pro clip you will have control problems. If that is the case try moving closer and you will see much less sensitivity to head movement. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Deezle Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 If your Track IR camera is more than 18 inches from your hat or pro clip you will have control problems. If that is the case try moving closer and you will see much less sensitivity to head movement. Something is wrong if you need to have it that close. I've had no problem using it like 5 feet away. What's most important is having it up high enough, at least with the standard hat clip. If you don't, the camera will see two of the reflectors crossing each other when you're looking up and turning your head side to side and you'll lose tracking. Also if it's too close you will lose some of your 6 DOF because you'll be moving out of it's field of view, the farther away it is the larger the area you have to move around in.
