Capt_Haddock Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 This looks mean: http://www.janes.com/article/52249/paris-air-show-2015-iomax-begins-delivering-archangel-bpas-to-the-uae Wouldn't mind having one for DCS
Aginor Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 We talked about that one a few times already, and indeed most guys here seem to agree that it could be a fun plane in DCSW. Although the A-10C beats it in everything I guess. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
-Flo- Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Is this thing real? Lools like a crop dusting cessna with friggin' bombs attached to it!
Aginor Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 It actually is! The aircraft is based on a Thrush 710 I think. So it is basically "Planes 4: Dusty Crophopper joins the Air Force" :D DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet

whiteladder Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Does anybody remember a documentary from the 1980`s about a guy called Bob Diemert. The main focus of it was him restoring a A6 zero for the Confederate Air Force, but also a project of his own to develop a low cost ground attack aircraft, the concept wasn`t a million miles from this. I don`t think it worked very well I think it was called "The Defender"
OutOnTheOP Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 For COIN, it would work just fine. It's really not all that far from what the US has been providing to the Iraqis for COIN work, and which has been doing sterling service (when the Iraqis decide to stand and fight, at least). Lucas_From_Hell Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I didn't think the AT-802U would go so soon. The concept is good though - good weapons suite, low speed and high endurance, plus cheap acquisition and operational costs. It's everything you need to hammer enemies who don't have modern SAM systems to annoy you with. I wonder if the wings, cockpit or fuselage are armoured to some extent. The wings and cockpit layout bear an extreme resemblance to the early series Il-2.
Capt_Haddock Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 I didn't realise at first but you are right... it's pretty much a modern IL-2. Should be cheaper to run than an attack helicopter and almost as versatile.
