jcbak Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 I reinstalled the module but it is still making that noise. It must be something with my PC but it isn't making that noise with any other module. Yurgon Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I reinstalled the module but it is still making that noise. It must be something with my PC but it isn't making that noise with any other module. Too bad reinstalling didn't work. :( I just don't know what could possibly cause such a thing, unless it's "simply" a botched sound-file in DCS. Here's to hoping someone else will have a good idea.
jcbak Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 I have a support ticket filed. I hope they can come up with something. jcbak Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 The sound does not occur if I turn IN-COCKPIT down to zero. Below is a DL link to a video with World turned down to zero. You can hear there is more to the sound. Hopefully someone will recognize it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mdv5nj1jkn9479x/Digital%20Combat%20Simulator%20%20Black%20Shark%2007.10.2015%20-%2011.41.18.01.mp4?dl=0 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]WIN 10, i7 10700, 32GB DDR4, RTX 2080 Super, Crucial 1TB SSD, Samsung EVO 850 500GB SSD, TM Warthog with 10cm extension, TIR5, MFG Crosswind Pedals, Wheelstand Pro, LG 40" 4K TV, Razer Black Widow Ultimate KB[/size]
Yurgon Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Wow, okay, now we're getting somewhere. The static-like noise you describe, that's your engine sound kicking in. ;) When I turn down my In-Cockpit volume to 0, my sound is as dull as yours in the video from post #7, so in a way the bad sound does have to do with the problem. Your new video shows that below a blade angle of 11 degrees, the engine sound is missing entirely, the battery/electric current noise is the only thing audible. As soon as the blade angle exceeds 11 degrees, the engine sound kicks in. So your original observation is simply the engine sound suddenly overlaying the outside sound which, indeed, sounds like static noise when it suddenly kicks in. Now, I've flown a couple of test flights with different volume sliders all the way down, but I can't hear anything unusual happening around 11 degrees blade angle. It doesn't seem to my like any sounds are exchanged around that mark, so I see absolutely no reason for your installation to behave that way. The whole thing obviously remains a mystery, but hopefully with this new information you're a step closer to solving it.
jcbak Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 RESOLVED: The source of the issue lay in my Realtek equalizer settings. After playing around with different settings I was able to fix the issue. I can't seem to replicate the issue using my original settings.....but I'll take the result. Thanks to all who gave me your time. Much appreciated.
