Hey Guys,

EDIT: I meant Inch not Zoll sry im a usual german speaker :D

i think about buying a new Screen for Gaming (DCS, Battlefield, Company of Heroes)

But I dont know what I should get. When I fly DCS i usually sit 1.1 Metres away from my current 22" Screen because of the Joystick. Its like looking into a Shoebox

What do you guys recommend?

27" with 1920 x 1080 pixels

or

29" Widesceen? with 2560 x 1080 pixels

Maybe you can give me some tips which brand I should get. Currently I thought about this ASUS 27":

Or is it better when I get a 29" screen?

Many thanks,

If you need a bigger screen, then a 27" 1920x1080 solution will be better. A 29" Widescreen has a lower hight of the screen compared to the 27". Overall you will probably regard its screen as very small and the picture will not be much bigger than your 22" screen.

I use a 34" widescreen (2560x1080). With 34" you have the same hight as a 27" 1920x1080 screen.

At first thanks for you fast answers!

Yea I know a bigger screen equals much more fun :joystick:

I think I need to go to a electronics market to get a better feel for the size. Space isnt the problem it could be 2m width and 1,5m high. Only the price is the problem... :D

With a new, bigger screen I will need to replace my gtx660sc with a much more powerful one...

Thanks again guys I will look what I can afford :smilewink:

Just a heads up if you consider buying a TV-screen: TV screens have a lot of input-lag nowadays (100-300ms!). They are thus hardly useable for gaming, this caused me a lot of headache.

PC-monitors are way more expensive for the same size, however they offer way smaller input lag.

Many TV's have a PC mode or PC specific input, which eliminates any significant post processing lag.

ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1

I only speak from my experience and doing 2 months of reserach to find the perfect TV.

I have just bought a new TV for gaming. It was an ordeal I tell you, an ordeal. The lowest you get today is usually 3 frame lag in PC mode with Samsung Tvs. Sony Bravia have excellent input lag of less than 1 frame, but they are all bent in the middle (yes, all of them, had to return mine - the packaging is atrocious).

High input lag is the norm these days, even in PC mode you get noticable delay. Manufacturers do not care about use for gaming or monitors anymore, it is all about making Blu-Ray delivered picures as pretty as possible.

3 Frame lag may not sound like much, but it is enough to make mouse-movement unresponsive, you constantly overshoot.

I'm not attacking you, just want to warn of this fact.

In the end, I have settled for a five year old Samsung TV that was developed before picture improvement was all the rage and has only 1 frame delay. Sadly, it is no longer produced and hard to find.

I know that tvs arent always the best choice and that they could lag in performance.

As mentioned above I play Battlefield and a short reaction time is a must for the new Screen. its not only for DCS.

thanks for the replies!
