One further thing that I noticed is that the terrain looks amazingly similar to that in Lockon, at least from some altitude.

PS:

Could anyone point out some place on GoogleEarth where one could find air defense positions? for example a SAM battery... thx

We had a thread like this, we found those big phased array appartment blocks, for the early warning system. Which isn't in lomac at all.

There are some SAM sites in the Crimea in Google earth, one is near those 3 airfields grouped together.

Look around P'yong'yang North Korea and youll find SAM batteries, arty guns, AAA packs and a LOT of craters all over that place.

So... what's what on the images? Let's go for a little ID...

Image 1, three Su-27 Flankers, three Tu-22M Backfires, two more fixed-wings that look like Tu-22 Blinders (unsure) and two more fixed-wing transports that I have no idea what they are.

Image 2, a Flanker stack and... looks like three Su-24 Fencers to me.

Image 3, more Flankers... either a repainted Flanker or a Su-34 Fullback. Another unknown transport.

Image 4, lonely Fencer.

Someone please fill in the blanks and/or correct me, I'm positive I FUBARed at least one of them.

Wow - nice find Starlight! :)

I have found quite a few interesting Russian naval units around Severomorsk, found the "Moskva" at Sevastopol and unfinished "Ukraina" at Nikolayev and I have been looking for those Baltic Fleet vessels in your last picture for some time but didn't manage to locate them myself.

I am positive that I can identify the two ships marked with pink arrows as the Baltic Fleet's two "Sovremenny class" destroyers - more specifically #610 "Nastoychivy" and #620 "Bespokoiny", while I think the vessel above(marked with green arrow) is the "Krivak I mod" class "Pylky"

Cheers,

- JJ.
