Coming back to flight sims after a couple of years away. Now I would like to choose either the Sabre or the MiG15 because I love the jets of that era.

I'm sure I will buy both in time, but for the first, which would you recommend?

The main thing I like is stable, cool flying. I'm not hugely into dog-fighting , just like the aircraft ,navigation , and systems management.

Any thoughts ?

..or MiG 21 for that matter ..

For just flying around, they're both cool. For systems management, Sabre is more interesting, because it has more systems :D. I'm talking about weapon delivery - F-86 can carry rockets and has three (or four, depending on how You count it) manual and automated modes for dropping bombs, while MiG basically doesn't have any. So more things to learn and flip/move/rotate in the Sabre.

MiG module on th other hand has an impressive manual (still no signs of it for Sabre, though You can find a couple of real ones on the net) and has much better stock and custom skins, if You're into this thing.

Navigation systems are the same in both planes.

Performance wise, Sabre is more stable and better in high speed flights, while MiG is superior in low speed ones, but as You're not into fighting, that probably doesn't interest You much.

I would start with Mig-15, since it comes with a manual. Sabre will surely get one, but ETA unknown.

For some reason I like the cockpit of Mig better. Sabre is just so...bland? I have this plastic, unpersonal feeling - compare the pilot's seat of both planes.

That being said, Sabre is more capable (has more ammo, can carry rockets, has special bombing calculator).

It's a very personal decision, like "who do you love the most? Your dad or your mom?" :D

I think you should go for the Sabre, cause i need more targets to shoot down :megalol:

Now seriously; i love the MiG but Sabre is more versatile; it had more roles than just intercepting enemy aircraft and same thing in this SIM. You have more systems, more weapons with a wider selection of armament for specific tasks.

Lack of an official manual? Not so important IMO, there are very good guides like the one you mentioned from Chuck and a couple of real life manuals on the web.

Mig-15bis has the best ground handling and better attention to system detail than the F-86.

The FM also seems to be better made, It feels very sluggish around max speed.

The sound is also great and adds to the immersion.

F-86 is bit more versatile with rockets, GAR-8 sidewinders and a more advanced sight for aiming.

In my opinion, go with the Mig-15bis (or the Mig-21 if you want added challenge).

Manual aside, the F-86 feels a bit less finished then the other two.

The Mig-15bis and Mig-21 has incredible amount of detail and you can feel

that the devs actually had access to a real life aircraft when making it.

Eventually, you should buy all three. They are great modules.

I bought the Sabre few months ago, and I haven't activated yet (I don't think it isn't good, I just love other modules). But I barely waited to get my hands on Mig-15 and I am astonished how good it is. Excellent flight model, really good performance and I love the sound of engine starting. I'm obviously biased towards Russian aircraft, but you really won't make mistake buying the MiG-15!

Thanks for the responses chaps. Much appreciated.

I going to go for the MiG15 based on these comments because I like a good flight model and the feeling that the module is very close to the real thing .

The Sabre next after that.

Cheers and thanks again
