In game recorder and Video Compressor

Hi guys,

 

Im starting to make DCS in game videos and upload them to you tube. Im currently using fraps for recording and freemake for video compression. Yesterday I recorded a half size in game video of 6 minutes and it was 4gb and i could convert it to 130mb. Ive seen people compressing 50gb to 5mb.

 

The question I had was that fraps videos are huge and freemake doesnt compress quite much, so I was wondering if you could point me to any in game recorder and video compressor that can help me better.

Another app I've used was VirtualDub with Xvid compression, that cut the size down quite a lot.

50Gb to 5 mb -> sounds like an animated GIF for me :)

You need have some tradeoffs for sure, but for the above example the quality will be so low that nobody will ever watch it and the feeling of the movie will be lost too.

I've been using D3DGear for a couple of years and very pleased with it. It always gets good ratings in comparison reviews, mostly because it causes very little slowdown (if any noticable) and also has excellent compression. It does cost about $25 if you use vouchers (Google is your friend) but normal price is $34.95 - and it's worth that, too..

I stopped using FRAPS for the same reason you want to.

 

I still can't find one that will only record the centre monitor on a 3 monitor set-up, though, so I don't make YT videos now the tracks are so messed up.

unfortunately i wasnt looking for spending money, in my country 30usd is a lot of money

finally i discovered shadowplay and it records in full hd with no performance impact and very small file sizes. A trully good program. The only thing is that it records the mic too low and i got no solution.

 

 

Any ideas?

You might albo want to check the main thread on the RAT Tool. It contains some very useful info on encoding. Just do a forum search for Lagarith.
