Farlander Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I challenge everybody to land their MiG-15 on a carrier that is stationary and with no wind without crashing. I managed to stop the nose wheel at the little edge it the end of the ramp my having less then 5% fuel, using all my gun ammo, and stall landing it right at the edge of the carrier. Good luck :thumbup: Would be nice if we could see some screenshots or something if you make it ;)

I don't remember exactly but I think I had the carrier at speed 30kph and wind at 7m/s...carrier going INTO the wind of course ;) @AG-51_Razor: Here's my dumbassin' around ;) EDIT: Carrier speed at 40kph with the Mig-15, 23kph with Mig-21. SFC Tako Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 What I'd really like is to get arrestor hooks on both the Mig-15 and Sabre. I know it's not correct and all that and it shouldn't be offical parts of the modules (=we must respect the purists). But if anyone can make an "arrestor hook and spawn on carrier"-mod...I'd PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR IT. See, I can edit the P-51's lua to have hooks for the AI and be spawnable for both AI and human players on carrier decks AND make carrier missions for other users that require zero modding on their part. But for the Mig-15 and Sabre - no dice :( The thing is, anyone can learn carrier landings with these planes if we got hooks on them. As it is now, it's mostly for...well, "passionate" people ;) But it would add SO much fun to this sim with hooks. As it is now, I can't make any naval missions anyway as neither the Mig or Sabre is carrier-spawnable. But just look at the landings of these two aircraft - it's not impossible to learn, especially if we could "navalize" both aircraft. My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel

You make your landing on the carrier just as you would do it with best practice in mind... low speed, good approach, etc then after touchdown just as you pass the third wire you press ESC on your keyboard and select quit and refly. I think it would give just the same amount of thrill as a hook script/cheat. I hope you are not offended :D. No realism at all though, no funny excitement, no naval operations to be made that way (like a campaign run from a carrier) :( It could be made though if you could spawn on a carrier deck. Just starting a mission in mid air in front of the carrier is too cheesy. See I wanna feel that rubberband effect when I hook up. Farlander Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 We did it when me and a friend had a server set up for practicing formation carrier landings in the P-51. He challenged me to do it in the MiG-15, and neither me or the other guys have been able to recreate the landing :P simply impossible. Something a bit more possible is to belly-skid it over the carrier :P the MiG-15 doesn't care if it's been landed without gear.. if you forgot the gear, just power on, take off and come around for another try like if nothing happened.
