RNeves Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 When this aircraft was released, I remember alot of people (including me) got very disapointed with the engine sounds. I got so disapointed that I never played it again until today! And I have to say that I'm still a little disapointed with what I heard. I can't recognize the ingame sound as the DB605's sound! I know that youtube videos tend to distort the sounds alot, but they have the essence of the sound on them. That essence can't be found in this module IMO. Tried Diveplane's mod but honestly, and with all the respect for his work, I think it gets even worse! Are there any plans to record any sounds in the future? Mobius_cz Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 There are not a lot of DB 605 engines left in the world. Every BF-109 fan knows there are still flying examples. But from my point of view it is just too expensive to record live sound (In case when your programing team is in Russia and DB engines are in Germany) and also sound of any PC game heavilly depends on your PC hardware. It is even possible that ED did live recording and this is sound i really do not know. Maybe we will get some answer from the developers but still it is good to keep in mind it is PC game and i don't know why but i can recognize DB style engine in this game. Probably i am not so demanding. [sIGPIC]http://dcs-uvp.cz/images/userbars/uvp_bars_mic.gif[/sIGPIC]
gavagai Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 The only problem I have with diveplane's sound mod is that it is so loud. I always have to adjust the volume down when I use it. Otherwise I agree that the stock sounds are disappointing. They don't need to be amazing to make me happy, but the Bf 109 external flyby is not as good as other DCS aircraft. Sporg Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Well, I once did a ground attack on a Huey, then looked and listened to it from the Huey viewpoint: The sound of the engine was more or less the same as I heard in a video I later watched on Youtube, from an airshow. So they did do some things right. ;) However I agree, maybe it is a bit too dampened when sitting inside. What I especially miss is a more deep and rich bass rumble, not only in this module but also in some others. RNeves Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 The outside sound is missing the supercharger whistle mainly, but even on its essence it is a bit off. On the inside it has the essence, but it needs to be richer... don't want to start a war here, but listen to battle of stalingrad's sound and tell me something... it feels much closer to the real thing [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Your eyes only see what your mind is ready to comprehend" ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - Intel I7-6700K - 16GB DDR4 @ 2400MHz HyperX Savage - Strix GTX 960 DC II 2GB OC Edition - Seagate 1TB
