tob.s Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Hi, are there any infos yet on how to upgrade to 1.5 ? Will it require much more disk space ( without nttr ) and will switching to open beta now decrease the download size for 1.5 ? greetings tobs
fargone Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 How to upgrade to 1.5: Download & install the present beta branch, when 1.5 is out you will receive it as an update. Disk space: Beta is completely separate and a duplicate. So if space is a concern, delete the old version. All your settings will be safe in the Saved games folder. You can assume 1.5 will be larger than 1.2, who knows how much. Switching to beta now will almost certainly save you downloading it all at once once 1.5 is out, as it is an update not a completely new version. Keeping your settings between versions is often possible, but know knows with 1.5 beta.
tob.s Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 if i renember right , u could use the dcs updater to switch between stable and beta

Each version will have its own updater. Win 10 Pro 64Bit | 49" UWHD AOC 5120x1440p | AMD 5900x | 64Gb DDR4 | RX 6900XT

Because....it's a bad idea There is a post hiding somewhere that details it Edited October 1, 2015 by [223rd] Brian

I used the CMD quite a few times to switch between stable and beta releases, because the last time I installed DCS which was about 2 years ago I decided to just install the open beta and NOT the stable version. That means I'm always up to date to the latest version and if I don't want to stick to the current stable version I just refuse the update untill I want to. There where a few occasions where I updated to a new beta release because I wanted to check it out, but then I wanted to get back to the stable version to play multiplayer. In that case I just used the CMD to switch back and it all worked flawless. So I wonder why you say it is a bad idea? I'm quite happy with it and how well it works. It saves me a lot of disc space from 2 seperate installations that I would need otherwise. Ok, I'm not really switching between branches. I stick to the beta branch and just switch between versions (current beta or current stable) manually, but does that make a difference? Chimango Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) I downloaded the beta which is just a few mb. When is already installed and i double click its icon or run its updater, after the "downloading version info" message i get: "DCS updater has stopped working" And it closes the program. Is this right? This is happening till the release of 1.5 or i shouldn´t be getting that message? Oznerol256 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) Honestly guys, just type dcs_updater.exe update openbeta into cmd and you will be set. No controls copying, no worries about activation and no worries about your drive space. And if you want back to release just type dcs_updater.exe update releaseMore details: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 I downloaded the beta which is just a few mb. Try running the upater you downloaded on cmd with the first command i posted. That should make the updater update itself it is not up to date already. Of course it will also start downloading DCS 1.5 if the downloader is up to date. Edited October 1, 2015 by Oznerol256 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
