Dudikoff Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) I like the new engine and all, but the FPS seems to dip every 3 seconds or so e.g. from around 50-60 FPS down to around 30 and this breaks the fluidity of the game. I didn't have time yet to turn on some GPU and CPU graphs to see if it's related to those, but I was just wondering if anybody else has the same issue.. Also, the main menu render of flying through the clouds is rather slow. Is there any way of turning it off? Dudikoff Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) Just pic theme, and your slow down is gone. So the menu animation is still running in the background while the sim is running? Cool if so, but can't try now. I'm curious if my current laptop card will work well enough with the new engine and e.g. Nevada map or I'd have to upgrade to e.g. 970M. Ala13_ManOWar Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I have R9 280x toxic, and i overclock it, even if i make medium settings without msaa i have bad fps.. is that because its just beta?Nope, that's something else with your rig, drivers, whatever. Regular R9 280x here and as mentioned except for trees shadows killer everything else is perfect. S! "I went into the British Army believing that if you want peace you must prepare for war. Loz Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Just pic theme, and your slow down is gone. Picking a theme doesn't stop the stuttering in game though, unfortunately. :( i9 9900x at 5.1 Ghz // ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula EK Bloc // 64Gb Corsair Vengence 3600Mhz DDR4 Ram // Gigabyte Aorus 3090 Watercooled block//Samsung SM951 M2 x4 SSD // Windows 10 64 Bit //48inch LG48 @ 3840x2160 120Hz//Asus ROG Swift PG35VQ 3440 x 14440 144Hz // TM Warthog HOTAS (Ser. blkspade Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I have R9 280x toxic, and i overclock it, even if i make medium settings without msaa i have bad fps.. is that because its just beta? I was getting a weird kind of stutter in 1.2.16 with my R9-290, where my frames were constantly shifting up and down by ~10 FPS. While the rate was high it definitely created a stutter, that was most noticeable trying to track bandit in a dogfight. It possibly existed in other games, but less noticeable. One of the last things I tried was flipping to dual bios switch to the opposite position on the card, that seems to have fixed it. http://104thphoenix.com/

Well, something is wrong! My 280X Dual-X runs the thing at 1920X1080 almost all settings maxed/ultra, without dropping under 50FPS. No lens effects, X2 MSAA. I did have to disable the Adaptive Multisampling option in CCC, it killed the framerate, and jaggy trees never bothered me anyway, can't see no trees from an F-15 :) Try running with all settings at the lowest possible setting. At 1080 you should easily hit 120FPS. Then change them one by one and check with a quick flight, you'll see where the problem is. If you can't get 120 with everything on minimum then I guess it's not a DCS issue. Edited October 2, 2015 by 69iAF~Mike

Just be sure to be patient and try the same thing after each up-tick in settings. You'll find it.... or them.... Punisher74 Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 ran some indepth testing today on DCS 1.5 here are my results. with xfire running. I found that xfire does work kind of. The second GPU switches from 300MHz to 1120Mhz in the preload screen only, never in game 1st gpu 1120Mhz with 1400Mhz mem, 2nd GPU 300Mhz with 150MHz Mem. Having both GPU's running with all cylinders is needed most while in game not the preload screens. Now that's on all xfire settings Default, AFR, Optimized 1x1. If both GPU's were firing on all cylinders the FPS would be steady at 90FPS or more on High setting with all AA filters on 8x or more. Thanks, Lt. Dudikoff Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 I found out that my FPS was dropping due to the card overheating. I have to check whether it's the new GPU bios (perhaps the voltage is higher) I've flashed or the laptop one which doesn't fire up the fans accordingly. I usually limit the frames anyway so not a big deal. i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg. S! i fixed it, because something wired, i was having in cockpit 100 - 112 fps and in world 70 - 75, and looks like 10 fps, but the game setting was wrong, now everything is okay thanks to everyone who answer my question  Best regards.
