Had broken a spring a while ago. Even before then the darn thing had a problem holding a profile. Needed to reflash all the time, not a good thing. Well got a spring, but then decided I'll just wait until 1.5 to get around to it. Well got 1.5 installed, got the spring replaced, but the darn thing wouldn't stay recognized. It would show in device manager, but not take a flash or anything. I got an NXT Uber mod, so I am not really enthusiastic about upgrading. I had bought another Cougar a while ago, but already used both main boards. But I decided to plug this main JS board into it and look at that it works. So I switched everything out over to that chassis and its taking a profile pretty quick without any grumbling.

Last life for this sucker. Next time it dies its getting sold for parts. Someone might be able to use the NXT haha.

I know the boards aren't made anymore. Would it be possible to source some generic USB controller and rewire the switches to it? Hmm. Can't let this legend die!

Yeah I spoke too soon, giving problems again. No matter what I do, I can get it to flash, but I can't get a profile to download.

Soooooo since the HOTAS is 'working' in DX, I am going to have to switch to TARGET. I am pretty sure this is a stupid Win10 problem with ridiculously old software.

Replacing the guts would be awesome. Thanks!

I've just gone from 7 to Windows 10 and have had quite a few problems getting Foxy working, however, I believe I now have it working correctly. I have lots of files I've worked on over the years and am perfectly happy with Foxy, so can't be bothered to relearn and switch to TARGET.

Anyway, this is what I did to get it working.

Hippo:

Good info. I was told by TM techs Cougar HOTAS could not install .. flash firmware on a WIndow 10 sys... must install the 2004 firware on a Win XP system.. which I did and it worked....

Where did the HOTAS In and OUT install? IN HID, Other devices... and in the Universal Serial bus controllers.. as mine did?
