This is a vapor that can be seen at the moment when the aircraft reaches the critical Mach number(not sure if this is the right english term but I mean the Mach number at which occurs the first local supersonic zones of the airflow, e.g. over the wing and the tail- the zones with higher local airspeed than the aicraft's) "See, to me that's a stupid instrument.
