Mainstay Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Why is DCS not running in full screen mode but in borderless window mode? Can and will this be changed in the next update?
OnlyforDCS Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 How would we know? I mean, I have no idea, it seems to be running in full screen by default for me. The graphics.lua file seems to list Fullscreen = True...is this some kind of bug? Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
msalama Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 V1.5 runs in borderless windowed mode by default, because it's easier to switch between the sim and the debugger/tracer - plus other apps and the desktop - when they're all windowed instead of fullscreen. Or that's my guess anyway. So I'd wager you'll see this "feature" disappear in due time. It's a BETA, you see ;) The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

msalama Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Yeah, but it doesn't. Press LAlt-Enter when the mission starts to enter fullscreen mode. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
OnlyforDCS Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Ok, Ive tried this and Im getting no difference in the MINIMUM FPS of the game, as for the max, I don't know as I run vsyinc on and my fps is locked to 60 most of the time. After testing this for a while I really can't say that it makes a difference, running in borderless window runs just as well as fullscreen for me. Kayos Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I hate borderless. I want real Full Screen Please! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
msalama Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I want real Full Screen Please!Install v1.2.16 then. As I said, this is a beta. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
msalama Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I really can't say that it makes a difference For me, it's a stutterfest without. After hitting said combo though, smooth as silk at 60FPS capped. Not bad for an oldish GTX580-equipped machine, huh ;) The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Not bad for an oldish GTX580-equipped machine, huh ;) Msalama, you mentioned that you have the sim capped at 60 FPS. Did you turn on vsync or did you cap by changing the MAX fps value in one of the .lua files? I have come to the same conclusion, in fact I would incline to better FPS in windowed mode, but this might only be my perception. SkateZilla Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) Thanks guys, it has been reported/suggested. Until then you can use normal DX11 Key Command to toggle Exclusive Full Screen RALT+Enter or LALT + Enter Edited October 6, 2015 by SkateZilla Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
msalama Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Did you turn on vsync or did you cap by changing the MAX fps value in one of the .lua files? Both, because that's the only way to get a nearly stutter-free experience in (almost) all situations. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
doveman Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 If it's not too difficult it would probably be good in the final to have three options, windowed, borderless/fullscreen windowed and full screen exclusive, like ArmA3 has. Then users can select whatever suits them best.
