I just installed the 1.5 few days back and when i did a training on the A10C for maverick, i can see the tress were shimmering/flickering. Don't know if anyone has the same issues. stiinc Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Same here, on Huey quick start mission easy look left and all I see is flickering tree/shadows. I have tried every shadow, anisotropic/anti-aliaising setting combination possible. Running Sapphire Radeon 7950 stock clocks, no crossfire latest drivers and an Intel 2600k works fine in latest stock DCS release.

Also trees appearing initially as black dots and oblongs and then the tree shape only forming on getting close - and then sweeping out like a carpet rolling across the terrain. This is in range that they would be fully visible in 1.2.16 The surfaces of the hangar doors were shimmering a lot, too. Finally got 1.5 up and running this evening and am noticing the same thing. Weird blotches on the ground and then the trees pop into view and spread out. towsim Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I am afraid, this issue is up to the developers. This effect comes up, if a texture was stored without mip mapping. Mip mapping takes care, that a texture is duplicated with differnt resolutions. The low resolution textures are taken if an object is in a far distance. If only the original texture is available then this flickering is seen. The flickering disappears if the observer is close to the object. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Blooze Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 There have been many reports of tree shadows flickering and trees shimmering at a distance in the 1.5 open beta and I have been experiencing these issues as well. I loaded Starway's Northern European terrain mod this evening and didn't see any of these problems. If someone could do an educated comparison between the terrain textures in this mod and the default 1.5 open beta textures then perhaps an easy solution would become obvious. With this mod enabled I am still seeing shadows from both buildings and trees. Here's a screen with shadows set to medium and terrain flat shadows on. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
