[CLOSED, AS DESIGNED]Why does everything look so blue?

As per the title, really.

While excellent strides have been made regarding performance, I cannot help but notice that the Black Sea theatre is now rendered, from altitude, in a distracting shade of blue. Having spent significant time above 18,000ft myself, I don't particularly recall the sensation that my eyeballs were malfunctioning (other than seeing the Sahara desert from 40,000ft, in which instance my entire brain malfunctioned).

Running DCS on an AMD 7970, not that it should matter much.

:)

I'm not sure what you are seeing, I know that distant objects and mountains around my neck of the woods look blue because of atmospheric haze, it could be what you are experiencing. Can you take a screenshot of an example, it could simple be the colour on your system too... not saying it is, but the colour variation between computers can be quite drastic, especially between older and newer monitors...

Have to agree with the OP, especially the buildings look too blue. Can't make a screenshot now, but will do later...

Here's the screenie, as requested. It's worth noting that when I'm not making mods for DCS, I stand as the last line of defence between graphic designers and their super-litigious clients. A standard conversations goes:

"Those two shades of red are not only completely different, but also nowhere close to the client's trademark red."

"What are you on about? They're exactly the same!"

"It's called the 'colour picker'. Use it. Frequently."

So yes... it does look strangely blue on the monitors that preserve the colour-integrity of some of the largest brands on Earth. :)

Edit: actually included the screenie.

I work in pre-press myself, so I feel your pain on the colour issues ;)

That said, lookin at your screenshot, it looks similar to the mountains I stare at everyday, when in the distance they can have a blue tint to them, its possible that is what they are going for.

I am one that agrees and use a Nvidia graphics card. The Nvidia control panel allows me to tweak the desktop settings and I have used it to increase the contrast, brightness, color saturation and hue for DCS. It's easy to go back to default for other applications but I only use my gaming rig for DCS so it's not necessary. I'm sure some modders are already working on modding the default 1.5 and it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Realize that many, if not all sims I have seen do not have any atmospheric haze in them, it might be strange to see it now, but I am pretty sure thats what we are seeing... I dont think everything should be crisp and clear like you are standing right on top of it.

BC, eh? Without wishing to press home the issue - except I am, as somebody who grew up among the mountains and fjords of Norway - it would be nice to see a "we're looking in to it" as opposed to a "there cannot possibly be a problem".

I don't think haze is what I am seeing but rather a lack of reds added to the color palette. As an example, when I choose Fall as the season there is very little difference between that and summer not only in the terrain but also with the trees when viewed close up.
