Kula66 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 All, The recent patch changed the Eagle to a single available flap position, but looking at a number of pictures, there seem to be 2 possible settings: A low one: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=112173 An a higher one: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=112178 And before anyone says the obvious, there are a number of pictures with the high setting suggesting that it wasn't just caught midway between low and none. Anyone any other info?
GGTharos Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I think all you have is a 'flaps down' switch, and their position is actually adjusted automatically. That's just a guess on my part though, I don't know how the real thing works. Rhen Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 the second pic is of the gear and flaps in transit from the takeoff position to the up position. Notice the main & nosegear doors are still open as well. After takeoff in the Eagle, we raise the gear and then the flaps immediately to prevent from overspeeding both. :)
iVIPER21 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Flap System: "Each wing has a two position trailing edge flap. The flaps are electrically controlled and hydraulically operated. When the flaps are down, they are protected from structural damage by a blow up airspeed switch. The switch is set to automatically retract the flaps at approximately 250 knots. At approximately 240 knots, the flaps will automatically return to the down position, providing the flap control switch is in the down position." Flap Control Switch: "The flap control switch is a two position switch located on the throttle quadrant. Up: Retracts the flaps Down: Extends the flaps" Flap Position Lights: "The flap position lights are on the left sub-panel. The YELLOW light indicates the flaps are in transit. A GREEN light indicates the flaps are down." (Source = Dash 1 manual, March 1986)
Rhen Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 ... or in other words, the pilot does not set an intermediate position. The flaps "blow up" because they are approaching their overspeed limit and move to prevent damage. The flap settings for "normal" ops are down or up.:)

Kula66 Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 Thanks all ... so is this modelled in LO ... or did ED just drop the middle setting?
dynamocl Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 ??? The guys have just said, either up or down, no middle. As for the overspeed protection, not sure, try it, but I think they just get damaged.
Weta43 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 "or did ED just drop the middle setting?" That's very funny... Nice camo in the shot on the ground (first one) - Is that Japanese markings? (& is there a 12 year old in the back seat waving to his mother ?) Cheers.
hitman Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 They both look like Ferris tattoos. I could be wrong though...
